Well the deals done. Hard to believe that 40 some fish over 6#s in two days,(almost all the first day), only gets you 70th but neither partner had kicker fish working on tourney day. Just one kicker,(8# plus) a day or either day on a body of water with millions would have made a gigantic difference, but it wasn’t in the cards. Had we even brought in a respectable catch on 2nd day I would have easily moved up into the top 10 in co-angler of the year standings within easy striking distance of 1st place. Instead if I have it figured right I’m in 17th, still 80 points behind the leader.
If you ever in your life get the opportunity to fish with John Gillman my first day partner jump at it. We caught 3 1/2 limits of 6#+ fish in one day. Just couldn’t get the hogs to bite. Fishing with John was like fishing with a partner you had teamed up with for 5 years. He was honest from the get go that kickers were gonna be hard to come by on the spot we were fishing but the numbers were unbelievable.
I have to say that I really wasn’t impressed by the numbers of 9# plus fish,(1), that came into the boat in 8 days on this body of water. The numbers in the 3-7#,( maybe 150), range were unbelievable, but hey we have them here, too. I would definitely rank Green Bay way out ahead of this area of Erie for easier catches of trophy size fish.
It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t mention that several fish in the 12-13# range were caught in this tourney.
