ANDERSON AND POPP WHIP WIND TO WIN WWA LAKE TRAVERSE TEAM CHALLENGE EVENT

LAKE TRAVERSE, SD- There¹s an old saying that when you¹re out fishing the
wind doesn¹t blow, it sucks! Well, the competitors at the World Walleye
Association¹s May 4th Lake Traverse Team Challenge event in South Dakota
found this out all to well. Having to deal with brutal winds around the
30mph mark and gusts to 50mph, it can really put a team out of its intended
fishing strategy. But the teams that are able to make the adjustments
necessary to deal with the weather conditions are the ones that come out on
top. And that is exactly what the top teams did to win this tournament.

Dave Anderson and Jeff Popp were able to overcome the horrendous wind and
catch three fish for 7.38 pounds giving them first place in the tournament.

Second place were the father and son team of Marvin Christopherson and Joey
Christopherson catching two fish weighing 7.06 pounds.

Third place was Don Fellbaum and Jon Millim with one fish weighing 4.48
pounds. Fellbaum and Millim also won the big fish honors with their fish.

When asked what the winning techniques were used in the tournament, all the
teams stated they did what ever it took to catch fish. If it meant pulling
crank baits for a while then switching to spinners then going to jigs, they
did it. Just ³toughing it out² was a phrase used a lot during the weigh in.

The day before the tournament, Steve Poll, Executive Director of the World
Walleye Association visited the Traverse Walleye Anglers Club and presented
a donation of $500 from the WWA conservation fund for their clubs future
    projects around Lake Traverse.

The next tournament for the WWA South Dakota Team Challenge Circuit is
Sunday, June 15th at Thompson. For more information on the WWA or any of
it¹s Team Challenge divisions visit the WWA website at http://www.worldwalleye.com
