With all the talk last week of all the fish being scattered, it was all true. We trolled 3 way with cranks, live bait, a little of everything…….I think most people out there would agree. Did see alot of handliners doing well also…….

    DeeZee,
The jig bite held our interest enough for a 12th place finish. Going to hair was the key for us. a couple of nice fish missed at the boat, well you know. Great tournament and congrats to all that cashed checks.

I can tell you one technique that was not happening. That was pitching jigs. Just look at some of the standings for the guys that use this technique alot.
The guys vertical jigging didnt seem to do to bad. Trollers found some fish also. We where pitching the shore lines where these guys where fishing and found nothing.

They call the muskie the fish of 10,000 casts……well I now call the walleye the fish of 100,000 “pitches”. We pitched our butts off, with little or nothing to show for it. Vertical jigging was paying off for some people it looked like. Hairjigs “had” been my go to bait the past 2 weeks, and it let me down bigtime this weekend. (except for the white bass! )

It makes it a challenge with the no culling rule, You have to take chances and hope they work out in the end. A cool thing about it is that people fished for the win and others fished for a limit. Plenty of strategies going around.
