Just out of General curiosity I figured I’d start a thread asking any interested bass fishermen to list both their favorite and least favorite fisheries outside of Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa. You can list an explanation if you want or simply just name them. My favorite lake outside the Midwest has to be Lake Murray in South Carolina. Only got to fish it for three days but caught a few hogs lost a few hogs and got to fish a good variety of patterns. Lake Toho is probably the least favorite major fishery that I’ve been on outside the midwest. The fish see a lot of pressure 365 days a year, the lake’s a dishpan with absolutely no structure, and you can either fish really shallow grass or shallow grass. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy fishing there because I did, I guess it would just be at the bottom of the list of big lakes I have fished outside the midwest. Just my personal opinion, and I’m curious to read about the bodies of water others have been on.

Lake powell on the AZ UT border. I have limited experience outside the midwest. But would head back there in a heart beat.

We fished 4 days under a september full moon! What a beautiful trip.

Only Midwest knowledge here, but least favorite would be Lake WI, I have always struggled out there and most favorite would be the river.

I’d have to say my favorite fisheries are Lake of the Ozarks in MO or Lake Michigan. Both are multispecies with lots of big fish. L of the Oz is full of big bass, stripers, cats and walleyes. Lots of patterns and places to fish with lots of scenery. Lake Michigan has the salmon and trout, but also bass, pike and HUGE carp.

Least favorite. Hands down the Hudson River. I fished a tournament there and it was so bad, that you could be fishing a good spot, but there were so few fish that you’d never know it. Plus, a twelve inch bass would only hit 3/4 of a pound. And is smelled chemical-ly. All the bad stuff of the Mississippi River, without the fish.
