The Fountain City Rod and Gun Club will be hosting their annual Bass and Walleye tournament Saturday August 12th. This is a two person team tournament that is held out of the south landing in Fountain City WI. This tournament is open to all pools of the Mississippi, although take off is from the Fountain City landing and no trailering is allowed.

Entry fee is $60 per team(includes launch fee)and there is an optional $10 big fish category. You must declare which species you will be fishing for on your entry form.

Take off from the landing will start at 6:15 am and weigh-in will be at 3 pm. We changed the allowed fish to be weighed this year. Bass will now be at 6 fish per team and Walleye will be 4 fish per team.

You can download a entry form at our website. http://www.fcrodgun.com All participants from last year should be getting an entry form in the mail this year. If by chance you do not recieve one please feel free to contact me.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I will get the answers.

Thanks for your support in making this a successful tournament and hope to see you there.

Well, we didn’t cash a check today, but we did come in with a limit
The Rod and Gun Club did an excellent job with this tourney. The were very organized at check-in and at the weigh-in. The only trouble we really had was at take-off time since we couldn’t hear them calling out the boat numbers, but that is a minor inconvenience I plan on doing this tourney again next year
I also want to thank my partner, Dodge Boy, for putting us on fish We had our limit in under an hour. The bait of choice for us was a chug bug on a sand point with deeper water nearby.
17.42# won the bass side with 6 fish.
The walleye winners really had an awesome bag of fish. They weighed in 4 walleyes for 29.8? # They also had the big fish with an 8.49# walleye. That is very impressive

Sounds like a good time Wats,

I would have liked to see that bag of walleyes even if they are bottom feeders

I agree, Jim, Shawn, and the Rod and Gun club guys always run a fun event, and this year was no different.

I heard that Andy and Matt Loos did a nice job. 2nd I think, Matt had the big bass as well.
I do not know if Matt caught it on a chatterbait or not but I would bet, knowing Matt, that when he did catch it he was a chatter box for quite some time!
    Nice going guys!

Those walleyes are simply awesome I don’t want to know what pool or where you were, but I would like to hear what technique took those incredible fish
Congrats on a great bag of fish and the win
