Fished Forest Lake this past Sunday tourney – placed 9th with 6.80lbs of fish – 5 fish limit.. unfortunately partner water inlet got clogged with grass, his motor overheated.. we we’re towed in… still made time & weren’t DQ’ed. When boat died we got blown off an outside weedline stacked with fish & would have surely culled a few to increase out standings. Winner 15.22lbs, 2nd place 12.96, 3rd 11.66, 4th place 10.80. everyone else was 9.22 lbs & under.. Jigs & weightless plastics tossed into reeds was landing us a few keepers but nothing of any great size. Biggest Bass was 4.48 outside edges.
Lesson of the day.. Put your rain gear on before you leave the launch.. It took me 4 hours to dry out. Clean your water inlet otherwise you could overheat your engine. Forest lake has thick thick grassy weeds that can accumulate over your water inlet causing overheat & engine failure. Also… stay out of the boaters way when he starts throwing fishing rods
