OK, I admit it. I am a total greenhorn about these tourneys. My son and I are talking about fishing a few local tournaments this year (walleye) and I do not know the first thing about tourney fishing. We fish walleye hard and have a few patterns that seem different than the usual so we put fish in the boat. I checked out the new Walleye Tournement that is starting up in the Dakotas and Minnesota and saw right away that boat restrictions state 17′ or greater. Well my 1675 Lund is a 2002 model so that counts me out of that. For the local tournements are there similar restrictions? Not looking to set the world on fire, just trying for some quality Father/Son time. Where do I look for the nuts and bolts of the local tournements? Thanks for any help.

Usually for your local tourneys check your local baitshop. They generally have all the info. I fish bass tourneys and generally on your local tourneys there are fewer restrictions.

FTR is changing program that the local river tournaments get posted on along with some other changes and as soon as everything is complete Nate will be able to post the upcoming river tournaments. If you and your son like the cold weather there is a ”Freeze Your Butt ” Tournament coming up very soon. Just click on the Freeze Your Butt Tournament Details post on the forum. The end of April there will be a Lake Pepin Open/ARM Tournament with a 100% payback this year. You can learn about that by clicking on the post about that tournament on this forum too. Your boat would be just fine for those and many of the other tournaments too. There are alot of the smaller type tournaments that you and your son can fish in. As we get closer to tournament time there will be more info available on the different tournaments. Thanks, Bill
