Kaczorowski/Nascak Capture Cabela’s MWC Team of the Year Title
Lake City, Minn. – Minnesotans, Brad Kaczorowski (Lewiston) and Richard
Nascak (Winona) have claimed one of walleye fishing’s most coveted titles,
the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) Team of the Year.
This prestigious award is given to the MWC team that compiles the most
points at the four tournaments during the season. A first place finish is
worth 110 points, after which the score drops progressively to eleven points
for teams weighing fish. The remaining teams receive ten “show” points
each.
Kaczorowski and Nascak competed against more than 800 teams during the 2002
MWC season, totaling 413 out of a possible 440 points.
True veterans on the circuit, the well liked fishing partners earned $6000
for their achievement.
Jim Minnema (Randolph, Wis.) and his son, Tim Minnema (Markesan, Wis.)
finished second with 368 points. Third place finishers with 360 points were
Tom Walters (Campbellsport, Wis.) and Andy Schmidt (Fond du Lac, Wis.) Top
forty finishers will be invited to fish in the World Walleye Championship
next year. Those teams include:

Gassers/Minnemas Win MWC Family Titles
Lake City, Minn. – Two teams joined Minnesotans Brad Kaczorowski and Richard
Nascak in the spotlight at the Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) season finale
on Lake Pepin at Lake City, Minn. with circuit family awards.
Chris and Gina Gasser of Random Lake, Wis. put together 219 points to
capture their second consecutive MWC Husband and Wife of the Year title,
worth $1000. Kevin and Karen McQuoid of Isle, Minn. finished second with 180
points.
Wisconsinites Jim Minnema (Randolph) and Tim Minnema (Markesan) retained the
MWC Father and Son of the Year title, also worth $1000, after compiling 368
points. The Minnemas have now won the award five times. Jim and Jacob
LaPine of Fond du Lac, Wis. finished second with 251 points.
Record Set at MWC Finale
Lake City, Minn. – Paul Conway (Winona, Minn.) and Aaron Matthees (St.
Charles, Minn.) won the Lindy Legendary Tackle / Lund Automotive Cabela’s
Masters Walleye Circuit Team Tournament held September 21-22 at Lake City,
Minn. on the Mississippi River. The event was the MWC’s fourth and final
tourney of the season.
The winners established a Lake City tournament record with a ten fish MWC
limit totaling 43.16 pounds worth $21,000. The pair fished an area south of
Lake City using live bait technique. They also collected $985 for big fish
honors on day one with an 8.05 pounder. Along with the checks autographed
Mark Susinno prints were presented to the winners by Susinno in person. A
total of $4924 was paid over the two days in big fish prize money.
Second place finishers were Tim Chick and Charlie Casperson of Winona, Minn.
with 38.66 pounds worth $10,200. Third place went to brothers Mitch and
Scott Jerowski, also of Winona. They collected $7,200 for a weight of 32.39
lbs.
Tim Cain (Mankato, Minn.) and Bill Koehne (Abrams, Wis.) won the Lake City
Lodging Association “Comeback Award” of $500. They advanced the most places
from day one to day two.
The top 29 teams shared the $81,250 cash purse. The entire payout totaled
$94, 674. The 168 team field caught 767 walleyes weighing 1599.31 lbs. in
the MWC catch and release format.
