    > MINNEMA’S WIN CABELA’S MWC WALLEYE TOURNEY
    > WISCONSINITES TOP BAYS DE NOC FIELD WITH 46.38 LBS
    >
    > Gladstone, MI – A Wisconsin father and son team, Jim (of Randolph,
    > WI) and Tim (of Markesan, WI) won the Cabela’s Lowrance Electronics
    > Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) Tournament. This team walleye tournament
    > was held August 24-25 on Lake Michigan’s Big and Little Bays de Noc in
    > Gladstone, Michigan.
    >
    > The winners put together consistent catches of 22.04 lbs. and 24.34
    > lbs., and brought in the allowable ten fish MWC limit. Their impressive
    > 46.38 lb. total averaged nearly five pounds per walleye. Their first
    > circuit victory was worth $20,000.
    >
    > According to Jim, “I told Tim this morning that I had a good feeling
    > that we were going to win this one.” It probably helped that their best
    > bite was between nine and ten in the morning each day. The team’s larger
    > fish were caught on Big Bay off Round Island, and then they moved to
    > Little Bay to catch their slot fish near No-See Um Creek. Teams were
    > permitted to catch three fish between 15 and 23 inches and two fish over
    > 23 inches daily.
    >
    > All of the fish were caught on spinner rigs tipped with
    > nightcrawlers or leeches. Tim explained, “We trolled the rigs from
    > in-line planer boards real slow. There really wasn’t a set pattern. We
    > caught them on the bottom, the middle and near the top. When we fished
    > deep, we used a floating type rig just above the bottom which kept the
    > zebra mussels from attaching themselves to the rig.”
    >
    > Tim’s son, Cody, joined his dad and granddad on stage to accept the
    > first place check and trophies. The pair also won the MWC family team
    > award. Barb and Bill Standke of Redgranite, WI won the husband and wife
    > award. They finished in 26th place winning $800. Second place finishers
    > were Mike Tompkins (Green Bay, WI) and Dan Stankevitz (Hudson, WI) with
    > 46.02 lbs. worth $10,000. Third place and $7,000 went to Joe Fisher
    > (Chisago, MN) and Chad Swanson (Mahtomedi, MN) who tallied 45.70 lbs.
    >
    > The top 28 teams shared the $77,400 cash purse. An additional
    > $6,024 was paid in three daily big fish prizes. Local business sponsored
    > a $625 most improved award, which went to Dave Klasell (Escanaba, MI) and
    > John Wittlieff (Manistee, MI.)
    >
    > Tom Walters (Campbellsport, WI) and Andy Schmidt (Fond du Lac, WI)
    > took big fish honors with a 10.10 lb. walleye. They finished ninth and
    > pocketed $2,000 plus an extra $1205 for the lunker.
    >
    > The 160 team field caught 606 walleyes weighing 2,353.21 lbs.
    >
    > The fourth and final circuit stop is the Cabela’s Lindy Legendary
    > Tackle & Lund International MWC Team Tournament, September 21-22 on the
    > Mississippi River (Lake Pepin) at Lake City, MN. Openings still exist.
