Well, it was a very windy day for the tournament on sunday- IDA members claimed the top 3 spots and big bass.
1st Ken Warren- Ken claimed first by staying in pool 16 and fishing in the Andalusia slough area close to the ramp. He reported catching all 4 keepers of his winning weight before 630 am. Ken caught all of his fish on a custom River FINatic 7/16oz spinnerbait from
Strictly Bass Lures.
2nd- JJ Patton- I locked down to 17 to catch 3 keepers from pool 17. 2 of them came on a strictly bass River FINatic 5/16 spinnerbait, the other on a sweet #%$^^ from reaction innovations(name witheld to protect the innocent). My first keeper didnt come until about 1030 and I had to come back through the lock at noon due to heavy barge traffic.
3) JT Bagwell- caught big bass on a yamamoto bait in pool 16
Overall, the wind gusts to 35 mph limited travel and made casting and strike detection difficult. I personally tested the flotation of my tr 20 by spearing a wave on the way home. There was 10-12 inches of water in my console area but we bailed/bilged it out and got back in time for weigh in. Scary incident to say the least. Another boat who locked down lost 3 rods from his deck after spearing a wave.
