A colleague and I were having a discussion about good tournament fisherman on the FLW tour. And being a fairly well-known “local” we started talking about Tom Monsoor. The guy that I was talking with seemed to think that Tom was caught cheating or was in some tournament scandal back in the late 80’s early 90’s in the B.A.S.S. I disagreed with him but have been trying to put together some research for it, but haven’t come up with anything . Anyone have any idea what he (my co-worker) is talking about? Tom seems to be putting together a pretty good string of top 50’s on the FLW, and is due for another top 10 soon, against an amazing field of fisherman! I am not here to bad mouth a fellow fisherman, so please don’t take this the wrong way. Just trying to straighten out the facts.

Tom is not allowed to fish B.A.S.S. I don’t know the details 100%, but there is a story behind why. Since I can’t speak accurately….i won’t.

He finished fifth in a megabucks event in Tenn.I believe it paid $20,000 He took a couple of lie detector tests and was DQ’d.I’ve heard more that I’m fairly certain is accurate but I wouldn’t want to post romors.

Thanks for not posting rumors. We all know that one false rumor will travel 100 times further than 100 apologies for spreading that false rumor.

I used to fish tournaments along side Tom when The Red Man Series was around. He is one of the best! I have alot of respect for him, as should all fishermen. Tom was out to succeed, and he did. I am not sure on the B.A.S.S. issues? I do know this, he is a great guy and an awesome fisherman.

Wasnt he having someone sit on his spot in a tourney until he got there?

I did an angler search for Tom Monsoor and all I came up with was one entry in a B.A.S.S event and Tom cashed a check,it did not have any other entrys for Tom.
This leads me to beleive this is urban folk lore,up here in MN. I have heard many stories about how some of the top MN. anglers can not fish B.A.S.S and none are true.
I’m sure B.A.S.S knows how to keep there data base and it would show the event that Tom was D.Q from, and also a D.Q does not always end in getting band from a tournament trail.
Confused why this was posted and how no one can come up with facts,I hope until someone can, any one reading these post just call it like I see it Rumors,Rumors.

    FACT……..
Tom just fished and placed in the money in a FLW event.
I think it was Beaver Lake but you can check the FLW site and check for your selves.
Dave C i agree completely, time to put this one to bed.

    Fact,

Tom Monsoor did fish the FLW. But, that is not what the discussion is about. He is not allowed to fish BASS events and that is a fact. WHy don’t one of you guys ask him yourself. He’ll give you the truth and that he isn’t able to fish BASS.
