Looks like a couple giant big fish on Saturday.

I was happy with the fishing especially considering the prefish.

Remember when you see all the zeros and 1-2 fish bags that many teams sit on a spot all day hoping for the right tournament winning fish to slide in and bite. It can happen fast when they do.

I was just curious how everyone did given the tough bite as of late. Seems like overall – and I know a few guys had big fish – the totals are down compared to previous years. If you look on the site under archived results and compare previous years that seems to be the situation.

I know there are probably lots of reasons – some guys sit on spots or not change things up. But wondering what’s going on this spring in general in terms of the bite. I have no idea. But would love to hear some theories.

Maybe it’s just me, but the lack of a great spring bite does not seem to be isolated to p4. Weird winter and spring for sure.

    x2.

For theories, I have heard P4 has a huge shad population right now, that could be keeping bellies full.

Bite was way off for the MWC Tourney at Detroit River this year compared to past years.

Wonder where all the shad are… Was up on Pepin last Saturday testing my BIG trolling setup and not sure I marked a baitball all day. Trolled out of Pepin up towards Maiden Rock. Marked a lot of fish, but didn’t see anything that stuck out as a lot of shad schooled up. Zigged back and forth between 22′ and into 8′.
