James, can we call that new dance of yours the lamprey stomp???

trot line fishing on the Iowa river many years ago,I brought up an eel, dark green with red eyes, that thing was nasty looking!!! blew it off the hook with my Ruger super redhawk 44 mag, that was about one in the morning, the blast scared every nesting heron out of the trees on that section of river, what a racket that was!

Brian 7″ is a little one I’ve seen them at 18″. I pulled it off (it was embedded on the fish) and chopped in in 1/2 then threw it back.

He was a little guy (thank you Lord).

Google the North American Eel sometime. They are quite different then the lamprey’s as they are endangered and very ugly looking.

They have a life cycle that’s can’t be described any other way then amazing with their trip to the Bermuda Triangle area to spawn and then back up the river though all the lock and dams to our St Croix River among other places.

I won’t kill one but I won’t bring one in the boat to count it’s teeth either. smirk
