Trying to figure out the total weight of the boat, trailer, and outboard behind the truck. I have a Competitor 185 Sport, Suzuki DF150 on the transom, and an Eagle bunk trailer. I believe the boat is around 1500 lbs and the outboard is around 500lbs. Thoughts on the trailer?

Then, of course, there’s the full tank of gas, tackle, loaded cooler, etc.

Run it across a scale at a truck stop or local grain elevator. Then you’ll know for sure. I believe the Flying J down at Roberts on I94 has one, also the truck stop west towards Hudson has one.

Your guesstimate sounds within reason, but missing too many details on the trailer to even hazard a guess.

If you want to be precise, take it a scale the next time out.

Most 18′ boats with 150s, gear, gas and trailer that I have seen weighed are between 3300 to 4000 lbs. With an aluminum boat I’d guess between 3300 to 3600. But like the FG says take it to an grain elevator or truckstop.

My neighbor weighed his truck, 3/4 ton diesel and 21′ Ice Castle, 16,800 lbs!

Scale is the way to go, make sure everything is set up like you’re going on a trip.

I had an 1850 fish hawk with a df140 and I think the whole thing on the trailer and half tank of gas was about 3300, so the estimates are pretty good. Go to a slow scale and if you park right you can get truck, boat/trailer and hitch weight if you are fast enough!
