It looks like we might be in for a good pre-spawn run this year on the Rainy River. yay

While we wait for the river to open up, I thought I would throw out a question:

What are your top 3 go to techniques for fishing the pre-spawn walleye on the rainy river? chased

    1. I like to fish shallow with 3/8 oz jig & a pulsars soft plastic, pitching to the shoreline
    2. Jigging deep water with a soft plastic swim bait produced my personal best 29″ walleye
    3. Setting up on a mid river hump and fishing the down stream edge. Holding the plastic jig on or near the bottom and let the current do the work.

    What works for you?

    1. Gold jig and the biggest rainbow available.
    2. See #1.
    3. Pitching plastics perpendicular to the current.

    1. Pitchin plastics up shallow swinging them back in the current.
    2. Pitchin plastics up shallow swinging them back in the current.
    3. Dragging plastics with the current in the sand dunes. Best in lower water years.

3-way with a stick bait can be very effective.
