A college friend of mine has spent several evenings fishing from his docks on Lake Minnetonka. Less than a week after we caught our limit of 11″-12″ crappies & numerous 7″-8″ sunfish,(during last Friday’s off again/ on again rain) John decided to try another evening fishing with some leeches.(last night….39 degrees, raining, windy) he had caught & released a 4 pound largemouth 20 minutes earlier, when this beast (37″ 12.5 pounds) and fought it for 20 minutes before measuring, taking a pic, & releasing it back to be caught again. We had caught half a dozen 2-4 pound bass while fishing for crappies, and I was surprised to haul in 7 very nice bullheads! We experienced no northerns on Friday.

Seems like a great multi species spot. Love the bullheads! No better eating fish in my mind…RR

I would rank them right near the top in taste. I grew up in SW MN (Springfield) and bullheads were a big portion of what we caught. We fished for just about anything, so when we caught bullheads, that’s what we were fishing for. And they were usually about 1/2 -2 pounds, so we always came home happy.
