Even better are the guys that take the net out and then try to hide the fish they are catching

If I had a nickel for Everytime I told the guy in my boat to PUT THE NET DOWN!

I agree. I very rarely shore fish but I give shore fisherman space. I feel that the person in the boat has way more options for fishing spots than the shore people. JMO

I totally agree. I always give shore anglers a wide berth. If I’m working a bank and there’s some anglers on it, I’ll make a wide arc around their fishing spot so I don’t disturb it. I’m not in the habit of crowding other angler, but I’ll give shore anglers a lot of space, more so than other boats.

I used to be a shore angler and wader when I was a teen. I get it. They’re out there hoping get a couple bites and maybe a single fish. That’s an average day for a lot of shore anglers. It’s a real dick move for a boater to come and try to take that single fish away from them.

Waving the net around is sure to attract a crowd.

Does anyone still use marker buoys? If I hit a fish on a new spot, I just throw out a waypoint. However, if you throw a couple of those out anywhere near a semi-popular reef or mid lake structure and you’ll have boats closing in.

I was with a very experienced Rainy Lake fisherman years ago who used buoys solely to “direct traffic” as he called it on the busiest weekends when fishing near any resorts or popular spots. He’d find the highest point of a large reef and throw a couple markers out on top of it. We then proceeded to fish off the reef catching fish a few hundred yards away while 3 other boats pounded the very top of the reef. When we drifted back that way a couple hours later, they were baffled that all they caught were a couple dink perch.
