I wasn’t out there but a friend told me on Monday it was 41 degrees. It may honestly have gone down since then with cooler temps and all this rain. That was in the bays too, main lake might be colder.

    In the usual shallow spots?

Good job bc-but who counts to 37? For me its a limit, 2limits, and a lot.

There is a small bay I hit as soon as I can get into it, like pushing ice on the main lake to get to this little honey hole. Always the first one there and this one permeant dock always puts out some nice crappies.

I usually keep track because I release all of them.

Last spring in about 3 hours I landed over 90 of them. Most of them were 9 inch dinks but it was literally drop in and hook up, one after the other.

I’d honestly rather target one 15 incher now and get skunked than catch all those other ones.

was out on Sunday and Monday. between Sunday and Monday the water temps raised significantly at the spot i was at. it was in the low to mid 40s on Sunday and on Monday it was around 55-56. Fish moved in shallower on Monday. Managed to catch some fish both days but only found dinks on Monday.

BTW Big I have always thought those backwaters looked great on a map, circled some spots I thought looked promising, went out there, all of the spots had a sign that said closed to fishing for the spawn March-July! Do they still do that?

Yeah Tim all the good spots are off limits. Best to fish elsewhere. whistling

On Wednesday I was surprised to see 54/55 degrees on a small lake 10 minutes from Minnetonka. Seems to be really warming up now – anyone else tracking temps?

Despite the cold rain, I think the longer days have really raised water temps in recent days. Hope the trend continues. Last year we didn’t hit mid-50’s til end of April.

Yeah it seems early to me too. I thought we had a couple more weeks until 50’s

I was on Beebe Monday afternoon in the hot sun just before the storm hit. We had 54 degrees in the bay by the road where everyone shore fishes.

Dan did the size improve with the warmer water. We kept a few but most were throw back size. Almost lost it on one of those shore guys when a lure/ weight hit my engine, but realized something broke on him an did not intend to be anywhere near me.

No size, but unlimited 7 in bluegills. We only saw a handful of crappie caught. It was a fun first trip out though.

Went on Saturday, 4/17/21. Caught 20 crappies, 1 sunfish, and 1 pike. It was not consistent action but enough to stay interested. Pretty good average size, half were 10.5 inches or bigger and 4 were 12 inches. All were released.

Water temp was 48 in the main lake and 51 in the bays. Fish were in 4-8 feet of water and there had to be weed growth.
