Has anybody ever tried this knot before? I’ve got a friend that lives in the Pacific Northwest and he swears by the Toit knot. I’m not looking for what knot is best, just feedback on this one. I’m very curious about it with lighter monofilament line.

Meh. Knots fail because they pinch themselves off. Witness an overhand vs a clinch vs a rapala vs a palomar.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see and use of the tensile tester in the video comparing the afore mentioned knots to the toit knot.

Never heard of a Toit knot but I’ve basically used that exact knot (minus the last 3 wraps after putting it through the eye) for years with fluorocarbon. It’s a good knot and that video is 9 minutes longer than it needs to be

Here’s the results of the knot for tensile strength. It’s should be edited to 2 minutes.

If you believe his testing, the Toit beats all other knots for breaking strength.

A double clinch knot with 3 more wraps at the end. OOOOOOO
I used to fret over knots until I realized how infrequently any fishing knot fails so I am down to a couple knots based on line size.

I only tie one knot, that is it, for everything.

I also only use 1 knot for all situations.
