Here’s what we’ve had to do to get it twice. Get to Target at 0650 and stand in line with a very small group of people waiting for them to open at 0700. Everyone heads straight for the TP. There’s plenty first thing in the morning but not a lot of options. The higher the ply the faster it goes…
iowa_joshPosts: 429April 3, 2020 at 12:01 pm #1930475I would think the jumbo rolls that businesses use would be available for order?
iowa_joshPosts: 429April 3, 2020 at 12:03 pm #1930481One 12 pack of that really thin stuff lasts for an eternity. I bought some once because the plumber said it would keep the sewer line clear. I think it was SCotts 2 ply. It was so crappy that one day I was in a porta potty and I thought their TP was nice.

What store is that for? Friend works in Atlanta and Home Depot lets in 100 at a time.
People can behave or they can close all these stores except grocery, drug stores and gas stations down.

Got there about 9am, and bought one pkg of toilet paper as I was pretty low, and have not found any since this all started. I don’t hoard, and I don’t know any other senior that hoards. Target has two mornings a week that seniors only are allowed for the first hour, Tuesday and Wednesday, and I went today on Friday, 2 hrs after opening. There are 5 other days a week where the store is open to all, at 7 am. In fact when all this started, the only people my wife and I saw at stores hording, was the younger generation. Never once have I encountered a senior with a shopping cart loaded with toilet paper, or any other items that the younger generation were loading up in their carts early on. You got your toilet paper at Quick Trip, then your wife went to Target the same day, to buy more toilet paper. Pretty simple to see who is the one trying to hoard the toilet paper, you only need to look at your self, and quit trying to blame the seniors.
April 3, 2020 at 7:49 pm #1930640Good to know Ed! It’s too bad the managers of the stores didn’t put a stop to this as soon as it started to become a problem. I guess I should have clarified but the wife went to get groceries not a TP run and told me still no TP. I surely didn’t go to kwik trip just for TP either but when I saw it on the way to the pizzas, it was like seeing sasquatch! Heck I didn’t even think they carried it until about a month ago.
Musky EdPosts: 673April 3, 2020 at 8:27 pm #1930661Things have gotten so bad where my son and his wife live in SE Wis, that they have to get their eggs,I think, at Quick Trip also. Never really go their, due to my BP rewards, might have to stop in some time, seems like the place to go for alot of things. I guess that’s one disadvantage of being a senior, hard to change our ways.
April 3, 2020 at 9:58 pm #1930693got to stay calm these days. we got 7 chickens so we always have eggs so lucky on that front. wife is thinking people will start stealing her pets! stay safe bud!

I liked sears catalogs when I was a boy.
April 4, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1930960Maybe the toilet paper problem is starting to resolve itself. I had toilet paper on our shipt order last night and it was delivered this morning.
April 4, 2020 at 3:16 pm #1930974The shelves in Cambridge have been empty or very close the few times I have been to the store the last few weeks. The gf ordered some off Amazon two weeks ago should be plenty for her family and ours tell things straighten out.
Sand paper might of been a softer solution though.
April 6, 2020 at 11:01 am #1931490Not sure if this has been mentioned. But here is a tip that might help you score on a package.
Make sure to ask the check out clerk if they happen to have any stashed under the check out counter. Most every store has a one per customer policy. People who show up at the check out counter with more than one will get the extra taken away. Many end up under the counter until a re-stocker comes by to pick them up.
Was lucky to get a 48 roll pack this way Saturday at the Oakdale Fleet Farm. Wife was very happy! We were down to 2-3 day supply.

Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559April 6, 2020 at 11:35 am #1931503Even with just the two of us at home Ma has been diligent about keeping things stocked. Just before the big shortage we were down to maybe 6 rolls in the pantry with a couple in each bathroom. She had a couple and got a 24 roll pack just because it was on sale. We still haven’t opened the big pack. It was just a fluke that she landed that coupon, now I’m happy she did.
I’m actually thinking of clipping a half dozen rolls to start mushrooms on.

September 29, 2020 at 1:56 pm #1976060I have not seen any problems at any of the stores I have been lately. They are all full. My guess would be that the people who did panic buy are still stocked up. (judging by the amount of TP my household goes thru.)

I don’t know what we’re panicking about this time, and my store had plenty last time I was there, but just based on this post I’m going to buy every roll I can find tonight.
September 29, 2020 at 2:18 pm #1976065As of about 2 weeks ago, we started some TP suffering. Dating back to when it was unavailable, we somehow ended up with an 18 pack of single ply. We have now reached that pack.
September 29, 2020 at 3:26 pm #1976080Buy it up. If you can find it anywhere under $1 a sheet, that will be a steal in the coming months.
