My wife told me the reason there is such a demand for toilet paper is because when a person sneezes in a large crowded room 100 people sh+t their pants.
Makes sense.
Buffalo Fishhead
That made me laugh ! But all in all a reality check !
March 13, 2020 at 10:13 am #1922663I stopped at Target over lunch yesterday to get some Nyquil for the FW because she has a cold. I am pretty sure I was one of the few people not buying up toilet paper. I stopped at Cub after work to buy a few extra basics so that we can avoid going to the store as much as possible for the next few weeks, and it was a zoo. Again, what little toilet paper they had in stock was flying out of there. I hope I don’t have to go to the store again till the worst of the panic-buying blows over.

I probably could have bought 15 items 2 or 3 times and been out of there faster than loading a full cart.

I might have to look at getting my TP out of my deer hunting and spearfishing boxes. If this keeps up you may want to consider LIVING in those boxes.
yea i may have to. we just got orders noone without good reason is allowed free roam of the union hall!!!!!!!
i did offer up to the boss i could confine myself to a particular small cabin on a particular small lake out in the woods up in itasca county though……
he hasnt given me the OK YET!!
March 13, 2020 at 11:43 am #1922711This think of the sales there will be on TP in 4-5 weeks with all the people buying a year supply of it now. All the stores will have more TP than they will know what to wipe with.
March 13, 2020 at 12:39 pm #1922727I really wish I had bought stock in Charmin and Angel soft 2 months ago…..
March 13, 2020 at 1:04 pm #1922738The old lady just went to Sams Club to get some fruit and sent me a picture of a completely empty meat counter. Apperently that’s next on the hoarding agenda.
March 13, 2020 at 1:33 pm #1922748You guys are definitely learning the anxiety brought on by a hurricane now.
This disproves the old adage that “Ignorance is Bliss….”
Very true. Even though I don’t want to get worked up into hysterics over this it is very difficult to do when you are inundated with it for at least 1 week.
March 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1922753I think it’s important to keep some perspective, there have been 40 deaths total in the US thus far. That’s a bad weekend in Chicago. Whether you think the gov’t has done enough or not enough preventative action, it is still a pretty limited threat in the states and MN in particular at this point and we should have a better idea how serious it will be in a week. (edit: whoops wrong thread)

Was at Costco Wednesday evening and the meat counter was mostly empty as well. However my wife stopped back in the next day to see if they had restocked what we needed and it was mostly restocked. I’d hazard a guess these companies are rationing their stock to keep the loonies from taking it all.
March 13, 2020 at 4:02 pm #1922787How much azzwipe do we have to buy to stop global warming ??? Come on people, you got this !!!!
March 13, 2020 at 4:26 pm #1922796I’ll bite. More azz wipe = more paper. More paper = less trees. Less trees = more global warming?
tswobodaPosts: 8503March 13, 2020 at 4:46 pm #1922806Is this affecting diaper supply as well?
Diapers and wipes are sold out at my local Costco and online. First time I’ve ever seen that.
I have 3 kids in diapers so this could definitely become an inconvenience.
March 13, 2020 at 5:03 pm #1922812Totally off-topic and most definitely something I thought I’d never post about on IDO, but mostly due to my wife’s research and efforts we’ve used cloth diapers for probably over 90% of my son’s life since he was born in June 2018. I guess yeah it includes more labor and a whole lot of laundry loads but we’re plenty used to it and diaper supply is never a thing we even think of. He gets one of the “overnights” at bedtime because they hold the moisture all night better. I’d recommend it to anyone.

When my kids were very young our daycare provider had a lot of there own kids and also used these. All young children there came down with pin worms , not fun and embarrassing going to Walgreens to get pin worm medicine. Oh and the whole family gets to take it. Wash these diapers with verry hot water. Not fun watching your kid running across the floor crying her butt hurts. But was kinda funny.
Ice CapPosts: 2161March 13, 2020 at 5:17 pm #1922817My wife purchased a 8 pack of tp today only because we needed it. She said there was plenty there. It was in our local grocery store. She said a couple other people were in the aisle and my wife commented out loud that she was almost embarrassed to be buying toilet paper but we need it!
I guess that got a good laugh and some like minded comments.

I hear ya on the cloth diapers, but I have zero say in that decision. Let’s just say the FW is not on board.
March 13, 2020 at 5:37 pm #1922819As an engineer at 3M my wife developed the tape for diapers. We had cases of free diapers for both our kids, only having to buy a minimal amount. But she also had to document the release and all that stuff.
March 13, 2020 at 5:48 pm #1922825We also use cloth diapers, not the most fun thing in the world, but not bad. Get use to it.

Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559March 14, 2020 at 11:53 am #1922969With all these paper products that go into the garbage being hoarded, collections rates will likely go up. And with all the extra schitting that these toilet paper hoards must envision sewage disposal rates and septic tank pumpers’ rates will likely sky rocket too.
Now would be a good time for the government to keep track of all those who are scalping people on ebay and other internet sales sites, then come back in a year and audit them…see how many report the earnings on their taxes. Not only the media is to blame here. The stores all knew what was coming just from seeing the huge jump in sales and they should have slammed the door on this melee, but their $$ in sales seem to be more favorable than to have items in stock that people need. Putting signs up after the fact is just a chicken-poop way to get away from angry people. There’s only so much crap a household has to wipe off their butts and a family sizes package of TP should last a couple weeks.
