After months of waiting, it finally arrived late yesterday afternoon. Drilling and wiring to commence shortly.

It didn’t mount willingly but I wore it down.

Was it lack of under bow access that made it a pia?

Short arms James. When you do boat work you need to know a small neighbor kid and a basketball player with long arms.

    Dave,
Also helps if your arm can bend in 5 places.

I hear ya there. There’s never convenient access where you need or expect it.

More importantly, what the heck is hanging off the bottom of that motor?

Nice job, Dave. Why did you choose the saltwater version?

Steering plate, makes boat control 10X more responsive. This one came from a company called Leelock.

LOL, you are the second person that has asked me that. Some of the lakes that I fish are pretty high alkaline lakes and I thought better seals can’t be a bad thing. Probably not necessary or overkill but that’s me. I try to buy like it might be the last one that I ever buy.

That’s one hell of a rudder!

For trolling, it really helps in big water. Additionally, it makes it easy to steer with the remote even when I’m using the kicker for propulsion.

I do a bunch of big water trolling- summer Great Lakes salmon addiction. I am going to have to look into that this winter!

If I was fishing the Great Lakes I would deploy my bow mount at the lowest power level and push with the kicker. Via the remote, I can steer from anywhere on the boat.

I do use my terrova on the big pond but when the wind kicks up it really starts building up the power level to keep the bow pointed in the right direction. I use cruise control for fine tuning boat speed and auto pilot. Like the steering response aspect.

Apparently I’ve been living under a rock as well. This is the first time I’ve seen a rudder like that for the troller.

It has been a big thing out West for some time. Guys have been making their own for most of that time. Leelock is the first company that I have seen come out with one on the retail market.
