Today's outting

So I headed out fishing today lauched at Peterson boat landing which is closest to my house and on my home lake.I headed up to the south end of Pepin.On the way the army core of engineers were doing something after I passed them I headed to the no wake in wabasha and trolled a crank for the heck of it.Then I got to camp lacopolis.I. Threw a plastic for a little then went on the move with a bottom bouncer.Caught a sheep head and floated awhile pulling the bottom bouncer.I ran out of my
main tank on the run up there so I switched it over and blasted back
up a ways.and did the same thing anchoring for a little bit and got a cat.
I then seen the rain coming and blasted back thinking that I was going to be in a storm I didn’t wanna be in so I headed home and loaded up the boat now it’s nice out😰😰😰😰so did I miss judge the weather or come in to early im not sure I played it safe I felt.Any advice or comments are welcome

On a side note my helix wire came off so I went without it today.Did almost everything I wanted to except fish Peterson where I know the waters

What wire came off? It is hard to fish blind. I think that you would be better off braking the river down in small sections. Fish that section until you know it. Also it seams that you don’t have a presentation you a confident in.

I think most of the best river rats out there fished that river blind (without all the new fancy electronics)for many many years. You can learn a ton by just paying attention to the water and surrounding landscape. Put your time in. You’ll figure it out. Also if you didnt feel safe and made the call to go in there’s nothing wrong with that.

Sorry to hear of your struggles. The big river is usually generous but sometimes she can be stubborn. I’m wondering if the waters muddy? I would like to run down there Thursday.

It seemed like it today the fishing was real slow and in spots the current was really flowing

If the decision is going to be the wrong one, you let it be the safe one. Better to come in and have it turn nice then stay out when the lightning and wind hits.

Thankfully I’ve either gotten lucky or made the right decision while on the water. Made a few poor choices in other pursuits though.
