Guessing most people would take the money and throw the wallet back in. Good for him I hope I would have done the same. Easy to say you would til its cash in your hand.

that is a cool story! I found a wallet at a gas station full of money when i was 18. drove to the guy’s house and gave it to him with everything inside of it. he just said thanks and closed the door lol.

A few weeks ago we were at a mall standing in line to buy something. The woman ahead of us left her card in the card machine. My 10-year-old grabbed the card and ran after her to give it back. 20 minutes later she tracked us down in a different store and gave my son $40 for his efforts.

Plenty of good people in the world its just that all the news, and people in general, are focused on the negatives in life

I still have faith that normal people who come across wallets or possessions, with a source of who it belongs to, would willfully attempt to get it to him/her.

I also still have faith that there is way more normal people then the media/world would lead you to believe.

    Now that’s a neat story.

Now the kid can say he was really reelin in the money at one point in his life and not be telling a tale.

Years ago I worked with a guy who found a wallet. It was empty when he found it and he didn’t want to get blamed for emptying it, so he put money (I think it was $40) into it and returned it to the teenage owner. The owner asked where the money came from because it was empty when he lost it. redface

Was sitting at a stoplight not far from work on a rainy morning a few years back. Saw a $20 bill float by in the gutter. I opened the door and picked it up along with 5-6 more plus some credit cards. The trial let me to a purse. Drove the last mile to work and found the driver’s license and eventually figured out the owners phone number. She came and picked it up at my work and said she left it on the roof of her car at the gas station. I told her I’m sorry if some of the cash was missing, I picked up as much as I could while cars were honking at me. She thanked me and offered for me to keep the rest of the cash. I declined. The next day a basket of craft beer and snacks showed up at the front desk at work with a big thank you note.

Great on this kid and has a story for a lifetime.

No good deed goes unpunished. The kid will likely get hunting rights if he asks. The punishment will come from the MN DNR when he brings that monster buck back over the state line without fully removing all thing CWD from it.

That is a GREAT story. That is an outstanding young man with top shelf integrity. applause
The young man AND the farmer should have gone and bought lottery tickets. Hooking that wallet in LOTW are about the same as the odds on winning the lottery jackpot.

I think most people — especially kids — do the right thing when there is that much cash involved. Kids have so much empathy and are so often thinking of others.

The real story here is what are the odds that this was hooked? It’s not like this was on a busy riverbank that thousands of people fish. In the massive LOTW, how in the world did this happen in the first place? Unreal.

We lived three houses down from a gas station on a busy state highway. One day on way home from work I come around corner by that station and noticed two small square items in the road. I turned around, and parked on a side street of the intersection. Here it was a wallet and a cell phone. I went home, called police told them what I found and come get it. Meanwhile waiting for the officer-half hour had passed-the phone rings! It was the kid’s dad calling. I answered, told him who I was and where to come get it. They showed up, dad sends younger kid across street to me. I hand over the phone and wallet-with no “thank you”. I guess the dad’s older son got gas, left the items on truck bed/cover, left and lost them turning the corner! lol
