I remember a while back seeing a post asking about this. My Xi5 trolling motor hung over the front of my boat so much that when I launched it, it would hang up on the roller on the winch post. First day out, and the plastic side panel got broken. I came across LiftSaver Trolling Motor Mounts this fall and ordered one. Problem solved. Pretty darned slick. Very happy with it. I made a little video of how it works. Here’s a link:

It installed very easily. It just lifts your trolling motor back about 5-6 inches so that it does not overhang. Once launched, pivot it back forward, slip the key in place, and you’re golden.

Thanks for posting. The Minn-Kota faithful will probably continue to use one of the slide-back plates, but for the Xi5 this is a unique solution.
