I know how to break stuff…
Not sure if I trust CL or FB, need someone just to install some fixtures & repair a fence. We had a great guy but then he went and got a ‘real’ job. We talked to our friends but they have not been able to help. We live near Roseville, if I have to try to install this stuff I will not be fishing-so this is important!
    Thanks

I do as much as I can myself and it does show in my fishing time. I have a hard time to pay someone a couple hundred bucks for something I can do myself. I am paying others to do some of the bigger stuff now though, I am moving a couple walls to make a bathroom bigger and while the younger me would have done this I am having someone else do it now. I have no leads for you, my guy is trying to slow down and not take on as much anymore.

FB neighborhood group pages are a great resource for finding good local folks.

Find a group that covers your area and ask.

    Ahhh – The Handyman.
My advice is, if your going to pay someone make sure they are insured.

There are a couple of apps you could try. With reviews of work they did for other people. I can’t remember the one I used but found a great guy in Hudson. Only lives a couple of blocks from me. Bonus

Go to your local hardware store and ask them, they know the good people fixing stuff in the neighborhood.

If you happen to have a regular lumber yard(not a big box store) that deals with contractors ask them who they would recommend.

$100 is good, guessing he is on his own… The place I was with had a $128 minimum… I was in good with the sup, he fed me all the garbage disposal installs he had around the cities, in & out in 10 minutes & made $90 apiece.

I’ve been using Handiwerx for lots of small/medium jobs on our place that needs a lot of work. So far they’ve done a bunch of new window trim, installed a new door, rebuilt a wall and two windows on our old barn, installed a tile floor with radiant heat, and a few other jobs. Download the app and check out their pricing, it’s very reasonable. I also like to do as much as I can myself, but with a new to us hobby farm with a 1930 house and a 1950 barn, I need some help getting caught up on maintenance and these guys have been awesome.

Technically a Permit is required –

When is an electrical permit required?
An electrical permit and electrical inspections are required
for any electrical work associated with new construction,
remodeling, replacement or repair of electrical wiring,
apparatus or equipment. “Electrical work” means the
installation, altering, repairing, planning, or laying out
electrical wiring, apparatus, or equipment for light, heat,
power or other purposes. An electrical permit is required
prior to the start of any of the described work above.

I’m not sure how these “Handyman” services get away with this.

I would say it’s a good price/quote for a ceiling fan install if you’re in the suburbs. If you’re more rural, it’s probably a bit high but nothing outrageous.
