Just wondering what you use when rigging tip ups (ifish pros) for walleyes
Sufix 832 10-lb braid to a short 8-lb fluorocarbon leader. VMC Sure Set treble hook with a few split shot 6″ above it. Sometimes I put a couple small glass beads above the hook. The swimming minnow will shake the glass beads and make them click together. Simple but effective on the iFishPro.
6# Nanofil with a small treble and small split shot next to the knot or a
1/32 oz. jig. Tip them with a large fathead hooked through the back with the treble, through the mouth when using a jig. I like the weight at the hook. With the weight above the hook I’ve had the hook tangle around the sinker to many times. Set them up at the lightest setting I can get by with on a Finicky Fooler tip-up.

Like the Nanofil, but I add a fluorocarbon leader when fishing clear water.
I make my own quick strike rigs using some metal leader material, with a swivel, beads and spinner blades, along with 2 sure set trebles…bought me a boat load when I heard they were discontinuing them:) these work great for 6-8″ suckers

This sounds like more of a setup for pike?
It depends on what I am using for bait. With larger sucker minnows (early season) I use a quick-strike rig tied with 30# fluorocarbon. With small sucker minnows and or large shiner minnows (5-6″ or less) I will use a single Sure Set treble hook. With small shiners or fatheads I will use a single #2 hook.
Between the tip-up itself and the bait I will use nylon coated tip-up line for the main line and 6′ leader of 15# fluorocarbon to the hook/rig. If using an iFishpro I will drop down down to a lighter 8-10# fluoro because the rod and reel set up is much more forgiving on hook-set.
PS – Check out this cool video I found on the In-Depth Outdoors Youtube channel…

you looked a little nervous there will
I actually switched to his setup last year and can tell you it has not failed me yet!
Basically the rule is meant for if you put hooks in series but even though the quick strikes are essentially in parallel technically they could be in violation. Think of it as a rule against trot lines.

No kidding. Talking to a camera in the studio was surprisingly much harder than filming a show.
Thanks guys loving the inputs I love the sure-sets but it’s kind of a shame that they’re discontinued cause it was hard enough getting 2 packs in Ontario
