Tip Up Lines

  • #2009131

    Just a quick question today.

I know everybody has their preference, so lets hear it. In your opinion, what’s the best line to run on tip ups for pike/bass?

I use a black tip up branded line but it holds water, what line does not hold water?

I use coated tip up line. Doesn’t hold water, very hard to tangle on the ice, easy to grab.

Braiaded line with 3′ leader of 18# mono. Fish that bite and go into the weeds I have no problems with breaking line when pulling them in.

I use tip-ups for pike. I like regular ol’ 15#-30# Mason tip-up line. Relatively cheap and lasts forever.

40# nylon tip up line with a braid leader. I like the higher pound stuff because it’s easier on your hands and seems to tangle less.

30# black braid. Have used it forever always take my tip-ups inside to thaw when done
