Would like to know what the tip up guys are using for line. I still use the 50# tip up line but with the new lines out there there’s got to be something better.

    Thanks.

On my heavy duty tip ups for big pike, I use duck decoy cord. It’s like 200 lb test. It doesn’t soak up water like mason line (what we used to use) does. And it doesn’t tangle, easy to handle even with gloves on, doesn’t cut your fingers when a big fish makes a run.

I run the decoy cord too then to a big saltwater swivel then to 100 pound flouro leader,

I’ve been using Suffix V-coat Tip-up line in 50lb test. It works well and the size keeps it from tangling easy. I use Suffix 30lb Fluoro for leader line.
