I have one at my shop if someone wants to check them out before buying very nice product and a great guy to deal with.
* I am not affiliated with IceNuts just wanted to give people the opportunity to see and touch before buying.
Thank you.
October 22, 2014 at 11:20 am #1466251I’ve built these in the past… and by the time you are done with the pole and all… this is a very fair deal.
For those of you that have not used them, they are fun, and kids love them even more. They can jig, run around outside, and just wait and look for the little rod to start moving.
October 24, 2014 at 11:58 am #1466911Thanks for the kind words guys, these are all built by myself and my cousin out of hardwood. We have been using Tip Downs for over 20 years, long before they became popular, mass produced and sold in the stores. When I moved to Eau Claire from the eastern side of the state 11 years ago no one knew what they were. I got a lot of strange looks, especially when we were out fishing guys jigging for Crappies and Perch by 5 to 1.
They will not out fish a person jigging all of the time but when they do you will be glad to have them. Why not add an extra easy to watch line or two (Wisconsin) in the water when your fishing?
The frame folds flat and they weigh less than a pound, easy to setup and kids love to use them. The balance on them is set so that once the pole reaches horizontal it free falls to the ice. It takes next to nothing to pull the pole down.
October 24, 2014 at 12:05 pm #1466915icenutz – I would like to buy a couple. That’s why I sent you a friendship request. Seems like a better way to complete the sale is behind the scenes instead of on the main forum.

He made his own and they were OK, Icenutzs are the ones you want. Ours were made out of PVC pipe and don’t compare to these. If you do the math on price. Theses are a great deal.
October 24, 2014 at 8:26 pm #1467041Friend request sent also. My son is showing interest in ice fishing and these would be a great gift.
January 8, 2015 at 2:34 pm #1494295Updated the Tip Downs to a PVC frame. I decided to try something different and made a prototype out of PVC, same design that folds flat but it is slightly shorter in height and length. Weight is the a few ounces heavier but it fits better in a 5-7 gallon bucket. I had to raise the price $2 to $22 because of the additional cost of the PVC, but they the frames are more durable, will not get wet, and have less issues sticking to the ice.
Sorry about the pics, they are oriented correctly in Windows Explorer but come out sideways on here, guess I need to use a real camera and not my phone. Lets see if this helps.

AnonymousInactiveHolmen, WIPosts: 0January 21, 2015 at 3:32 pm #1500689I recently bought 2 of the wooden ones from icenutz. These things are a BLAST!!!! Monday I had both of them out while jigging a 3rd rod. For a short time, I was running between all 3. I am really happy with the product!!!

Thanks Mike, the PVC ones are even better IMHO. I’m going to switch over to them and give my used wood frames to my grand kids and friends.
I know guys say I can build those, yes you can but buy everything that I put into them and you have very little left for your labor. The perfect balance point is the key with these, they need to tip very easy and free fall after they hit horizontal, giving the fish about a foot of slack line.
The only way I make out is buying quantity of everything and scouring the web for the best prices available.

January 27, 2015 at 2:07 pm #1503297Yea, I’m liking the PVC setup even better than the wood ones, no drying them out and the safety line attaches better when stored.
Gary you are making me jealous, I have not got on a good Crappie bite yet this year. Have not had the chance to get out a lot but hoping to change that real soon.
February 5, 2015 at 3:29 pm #1507591I’ve used mine a few times now Charlie and they’re fantastic!
Great product. If anyone is on the fence, jump off and get some! It’s the best value as far as ice fishing toys I’ve seen.February 5, 2015 at 5:35 pm #1507658I’m going to need to jump on those PVC ones too. At least a couple. Friend request sent too.
