Tip Down Lights

Any suggestions for ways to rig a tip down so they are visible with movement in the dark? Most lights are too heavy and throw off the balance so just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for an ultra light weight light to go on the tip of the rod or some way to right up the butt of the rod.

    Maybe try mini glow sticks?

Finger lights on amazon. Then place a scrap of 2×4 with reflective tape on the ice in front of the rod. when the rod tips the light will shine on the reflector.

Put a light under the rod and point it up. That won’t affect the weight or balance of the rod.

I would say give these a try, if they dont work for the tip downs you can use them in your house. I would just set it next to the hole.

Really like the lights I posted above. Have not attached them to the tip down yet but they are very light weight. Also you can turn them on and off. Very inexpensive. Currently have one turned on and am going to see how many hours it lasts. Will post an update.

You should try putting one in a freezer and checking how long it lasts.

Finger lights work well, I had 200 or so of them but the nieces and nephews always get 10+ when I see them.

Four days later and the light is still going. Next test will be to put it in the freezer, and I will post the update. Impressed so far.

Last update.. The original light that was left at room temperature has been going for almost 2 weeks now. I have had the light in the freezer since Sunday night and it is still going strong. How can you go wrong with getting 60 lights for under $15? It should only take one or two lights to get you through a whole season. I’m super impressed.

rig up a micros switch that triggers when the rod moves….switch turns on a light, bite indicator style
