Time for new Milwaukee Batteries. What and Where to buy.

My fishing buddy purchased a new 6″ lite flight auger this season. We knew going into the season that his 5 amp batteries were getting a little old and not holding near the charge they once did. I think his original ones are now on their 3rd ice season and this guy fishes a lot and drills a ton or holes ( Lots of recharges ). He wants to pick up a few new batteries. I had him leaning towards new 9 amp batteries, but after reading the fire issue and doing some research we are rethinking that. curious what others are buying when their original batteries are going bad. Anyone found any recent good deals on batteries lately?

pretty sure fleet has a two pack of 5 amp hour batteries on sale and choice of bare tool. Check out there ad. It might be an in store only deal.

Just checked that out. 2 5 amp + bare tool for 199.99. That would be a good deal if I needed either of the bare tools. I was also hoping to get a higher amp battery.

I did a bunch of research this upcoming season and from what I can tell.
The 6,8,and 12amp batteries are the way to go. Newer different battery technology and a claimed 50% more power when used on “fuel” tools. I have an 8amp and drilled 25-30 holes last night on my 6in pistol bit and it wasn’t even down a bar. Put it on the charger and was instantly green. Battery is brand new so keep that in mind.

Definitely go with an HO battery. If you’re wanting a deal keep an eye on Home Depot. They will randomly have a buy (battery) get (tool) deal, then just return the tool and get typically around 50% back.

Do like I did and get the 12AH if you drill that many holes.No issues so far,unlike the 9ah.

I run an 8 amp and a 12 amp. Both of them will run circles around a 5 amp. Make sure you have the side handle on to save your wrists.
Check Ebay, Amazon, Northern Tool or the box stores.

Does anyone know if the size of the 8 or12 amp batteries presents any space problems with using the clam plate????

I still run my setup with the side handle ( Mine had not broke off yet ) both my buddies have to use there’s with a clam plate because they have both broke off the ears where the side handle mounts.

Do the 8 amp and 12 amp still charge with the same charger as the drill came with???

Yes.

It looks like the 12 amp high output battery is 249.00 almost everywhere other than a few questionable online sites. It may be a price fixed item.

12 has no issues with the clam plate. You might have to readjust the trigger from where you have it set currently. Works on the same charger.

Holy crap,those sure went up in cost.I got mine 2 years ago for 129.00 on fleabay(damaged packaging).But the battery was A-OK.

I would avoid the knock-off ones for the most part.

WOW if that was the high output 12 amp that was a steal of a deal. Wish I could find a deal like that. I’d buy several
