Tiger Trout

Tiger trout are beautiful, hard fighting, and one of my favorite trout species to catch…However it’s been almost a year and a half since I’ve personally caught one, and that was through the ice.

Hit a lake above 10K up on the mesa and ran into some nice ones and a single brookie. I also got my first tiger trout on the fly rod, however it was the smallest tiger trout ever (it fit through the holes in my fly net). Another fun highlight of the trip was my friend Cheyenne that I went with, got into her first tiger trout ever, and it was on a dry fly😀 The rest of the tigers I landed were on the HD Trout Ghost Cutthroat. I did a combination of belly boat fishing and bank fishing this day, with all the tigers being caught from the bank. LOTS of lightning and thunder so it forced me off the water and also cut the day short…At least we got into some nice ones before then!

Michigan really does have all the fish species haha. That’s really cool though, didn’t know you could get them there.
