I have some property used for camping and Im looking for something to spray for bug/tick control. There are lots of options from a granular type that you use a spreader with, also the concentrate that you connect directly to your hose and spray

Both of these require running water, which I dont have at this property

I would think there would be a way to mix the concentrate with water and use a pump sprayer to spray the area. I just cant find what the mix ratio would be. I tried emailing and calling Ortho about their Bug B Gone product, no response yet

Does anyone have a recommendation for something that works well?

for ticks……..keeping the grass short would be a good start. also helps with things like flies, including deer and horseflies. not sure what else could help with ticks.

for skeeters i got a home brew reciepe from a wisconsin guy works pretty good. it does require water.

    1 jug MINT mouthwash.
1 tablespoone espsom salt…….he doesnt know what that does ?
to 1 gallon of water. mixes it up in a pump sprayer.

i’ve used this for 2-3 years now and works well. it lasts longer then the skeeter beater stuff and even if it rains.

the mouth wash i buy at a dollar tree for a buck……AND needs to be mint flavor!!!!

Keep grass short. OFF makes a decent product for yard spray. Your best best may be clothing sprayed with permethrin

Bifenthrin. Its the same chemical you find in the Home Defense line of bug killers. Kills every sort of bug out there. Talstar P is a brand with a higher concentrate that you mix with water. Mix one ounce of product per 1/gal of water and spray the perimeter around your area. Everyone that I know that uses it has great results.

+1. I also use the Talstar P with a pump sprayer and that stuff is absolutely fantastic. I bought a gallon of it 4 years ago off amazon and I still have about 30-40% of it left and I spray about 2.5 acres twice a year. Mosquitos, ticks, you name it. The stuff works wonders. It takes me about an hour to do my 2.5 acres – much quicker than the bottles you hook up to your hose. Also, you don’t waste all that water that you do with the bottles you hook up to your hose.

I’ve hear great things about Talstar – but isn’t that the stuff you’re not supposed to spray if you’re around any body of water? (not that it’s an issue with bigstorm’s property) but for anyone else that might take advice here?

There’s some professional grade product that you can get if you know where to go and it will control pretty much everything from skeets to spiders to snakes, but it will take care of fish, too, if there’s enough run-off in a specific area. I thought it was Talstar?
