Used to enjoy a good burger and a few beers at Corner Bar in Nymore. That was 3 decades ago, but believe it’s still there. Anyone confirm and how is it?

Its still there, but totally rebuilt so it isnt the same dump that it used to be. The burgers arent as good as they used to be either. The nostalgia wore off a lot, now they have a full menu with deep fried stuff. Something about ordering a burger and just getting chips was awesome. Loved the sign behind the bar that said “This isnt Burger King. You get it our way or you dont get it at all”.

I’m a fan of Slim’s, for that simple burger and chips. Hard to beat a heartstopper and a couple Labatts on tap.
I was at Corner in February, and the burger wasn’t anything special.

Hahaha. Yep, that’s the delicious greasy dump I remember. And they weren’t the fancy kettle chips back then either…

On the north side of town, just off of Bemidji Ave on Anne St.

Interesting topic Dutch, the Star Trib on Thursday did there iconic eats greater Minnesota edition. There was a lot of cool stuff in there. Gordy Hi Hat in Cloquet made the list and I have heard great things about them but never stopped. Anyone care to chime in.John, I will hit them up about every month over the summer for Thursday lunch and their Double cheeseburger special. Hand made patties, good generous fries and rings, and some great shakes. Generous portions, good prices and everything I’ve had there has been good/great.
Just can’t deal with the crowds Friday to Sunday, its amazing how many folks stop there over the summer weekends (they open around mid/late March and just closed for the season this weekend).
For another good spot on the 33 corridor, a block north on the northbound side is Family Traditions restaurant, breakfasts there are awesome!
Sounds like I need to time out Family Traditions for breakfast. Thanks
How could I forget the Woodsman Cafe in Remer! Great breakfast if you’re ever in the area. Plan to eat there next weekend.

Nice. Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to check it out next time in Bemidji.

Yep, Woodsman is solid for sure!
One of the constants I forgot In the St.Cloud area is the Ultimate. Great food towers of beer and hundreds of TV’s. It burned down a few years ago and he built back better. Axe throwing now with great outdoor seeting.

I have only been there one time since they reopened so I may have just caught them on a bad day, but the wings were terrible, nothing like they used to be and the prices were outrageous.
Since the Wilhop Inn closed years ago… I would have to say if you get to Maui… try the Alehouse in Kahului. A bar with really good burgers.. best I have had.
as in the Wilhop Inn off of Willison and Hwy 7 in Minnetonka?
I like Winners in cold spring. Before, during and after that Conspiracy.
2nd choice would be Riley’s not far from bowstring lake, or gosh damn place near Winnie or fishtails in squaw lake. It’s a 3 way tie.
I stop at Fishtales everytime I pass by, I have never got a bad burger from there. I use to really like Buffalo Tap in Savage, but they have really gone hill or I have just had a couple bad experiences in a row.
I don’t know if you would call it a Bar but they have one. The Oasis in Stillwater is has really good upscale bar food and the breakfast corned beef hash might be the best in town.
Zumbro Falls Golf Club has some great burgers. Open to the public and is open during the off-golf season too for the snowmobilers. Nothing fancy about the place and definitely not a country club but the burgers are sure good.
The Red Ram in Alma, WI is great food too. Its a biker bar primarily but the food is super.

I been sitting here for weeks waiting for you to do a report on Hawaii. Likes, dislikes, cost of things vs back here, your impression of the people, whats the economy like, ect. ect. As somebody who will never go I like hearing what others think who weren’t there as tourists.
I almost made you a Friday Night Topic.
Trails End on Lac Courte Orielles might be my favorite. Though I’ve had some other good one
Definitely making some notes from this thread. Beers and a burger/wings is probably my favorite meal to have eating out. There’s something about the atmosphere in a small town Minnesota bar that is hard to beat.
If we are talking cafes as I seen above, then the good ole days in tower is well worth a breakfast stop if your fishing vermillion
Stoney Hill Bar in Waubeka WI – Ribeye sandwich to die for… stumbled on this gem when we were camping and salmon fishing in Port Washington…. Keep making it a point to go back every time we’re in the area… every time it’s awesome!!
When you guys come this way to hit the Kaiserhoff in New Ulm. keep going to Carl’s Corner in Essig for the best chicken I’ve ever had. Real treat.
I have honestly thought about this topic way to much at work today. But I can think of all the small great dive bars I have stopped in and had a cold one and a burger at during the hunting and fishing trips Ive made over the years. These bars were such fun little stops getting to know the owners and the “locals”. Many gave great fishing advise or even let us come and hunt there property. One of my favorite stops was just outside devils lake in Penn ND at the Buckhorn.
Hey Dutch, have you tried Boondocks in Ray? I haven’t been there, but my cousin really like the place.

Yes. They did a really nice job with the remodel. Owner put a RV Campground right next door also. I think he wants the ATV crowd although I haven’t asked about that.
Palmers Bar in Hibbing. My wife is from up there and that’s always a spot we stop. Great burgers and crispy fries.

Man I like winners! Used to go with my grandpa a lot!

I ate there this summer, had some time to kill and asked a local where the best place to eat was. She goes, “Sportsmens I guess, it’s the only place to eat in town.” 😂 Had a solid burger and a ton of fries.
Yea it is BigWerm but darn good. There breakfast is the bestest!!🤪
But not far up the road is the gosh damn place!!👍
Dan’s Bar, seems like it’s getting a lot of love here already
Wings- Parrots Cay in Grand forks is by far my favorite. Mike’s Cho Cho Bar in Laretto is second.
Burgers- Cowboys in Lake Shore (Nisswa) gets my #1. The Dusty Eagle in Dalbo also has a great burger basket.
Rueben- McBees on Ann Lake near Mora has the best I’ve had. Pair that with the hand cut fries and the best homemade cheesecake
The other honorable mentions for me with an all around great menu would be Pinebrook west of Cambridge and Lucky’s in Pequot Lakes.
Best bar food at a place called Sportsmans”?
Just got back from a trip to the Driftless region in Wisconsin.
Great Rueben and cheese curds at Sportsmans in New Glarus.
