Sounds pretty socialist tbh. But some kids on the bench are getting paid, shoot Arch Manning is one of the highest paid and he has barely seen the field. And lots of top recruits get paid before finding out the next level isn’t for them for a number of reasons

I guess my point was I’d like to see colleges find a way to get all College athletes who aid in bringing $ into the schools to get paid. Not just those who are able to get NIL $. As you stated, its not always the player or athlete who is the most responsible for the success of the team who is getting paid the big $.

I agree there, the NCAA just got 7.8 billion from ESPN for playoff broadcasts, I’d like to think they can carve out some for the players. NIL is different though, as it’s basically booster money funding players. Tough to sell the boosters on a few thousand for the punt team gunner or backup OL.

The Money part does not bother me as much as the Transfer portal. The portal needs to be closed till after the season and close 2 weeks before the season. Their was an article in the Startribune how all the state championships for boys basketball had kids transfer in.

In WI the public schools have rules set by the WIAA(governing body for HS Athletics). The private schools still play for State Championships. The private schools can recruit but public schools cannot unless players set out a year. Private schools end up with a bigger percentage of state qualifiers in basketball every year. It is never a level playing field.
