Hello Folks, I am looking to get a new pair of boots to be used for ice fishing and for deer hunting. I am thinking about Micky mouse boots, but I am looking for a light boot (maybe a type of hiker?). What are all of your wearing and thoughts on a nice boot that is light, keeps your feet warm, and doesnt break the bank.

Mickey Mouse boots are not light. That said I have used them for years and love them, but I’m also branching out and trying new boots now. I’ve ordered a pair of Kamik Helinskis which are several pounds lighter and I will be putting them to the test as soon as they come in. Baffin boots have a lot of good things said about them, but you will be paying some change for those.
January 11, 2015 at 6:45 pm #1495747i see they look more like a snowmobile boot. I am not sure I would want to wear them deer hunting. look warm though.
January 11, 2015 at 7:05 pm #1495753Check out Baffin. Well worth the money when you take care of them. I’m going on 10+ years on mine and have no thoughts of looking for new ones.

January 11, 2015 at 7:07 pm #1495756check into Irish Setter , sold at Redwing Boots. I have a 1000mg hunting boot that I just bought it has a rubber tip on the toe for extra durability and is light as a feather even in my size 14 boot. I also have a 2000mg for icefishing as my feet get cold quick and they work great with the same rubber feature on the toe and heal.
Price was $170 for the 1000mg
and $215 for the 2000mg
Both are water proof and excellent .FF need more info let me know.

thanks fishinfool, I was just looking at the irish setter. A 1000 mg typically works for me ice fishing. do you know what boot you have for the hunting?
January 11, 2015 at 7:58 pm #1495767Irish setter knee high work great for me. 800mg
Use mine for deer hunting fishing and Preditor hunting and have no problems staying warm and traction is great.January 11, 2015 at 8:20 pm #1495777Irish Setter Grizzly Tracker 1000 g. I also have the Lacrosse Ice King for the cold days when we’re hunkered down. My Setters as mentioned are light as a feather, very comfortable, toasty warm, and 100% waterproof. I found mine on Amazon for 50 bucks. They are what I would call a perfect all around boot and have no complaints at all with them. I also found my Ice Kings on Amazon for a discounted price. These are a pac boot and incredibly warm. They feel like a pillow on my feet, but I wouldn’t recommend them for a lot of foot travel because of how warm they are. As far as weight they are pretty light for such a big warm boot. These things are seriously nice boots and also 100% waterproof. I almost bought the Baffin boots last year but opted not too because the waterproofing is only up to the rubber sole part, past that, and now you have wet feet. Good luck hope this helps.
January 11, 2015 at 8:24 pm #1495778ganders website has the Baffin Crossfire usually $145 now $98, I just got a pair they seem nice so far.
January 11, 2015 at 8:27 pm #1495780Bunny boots for ice fishing and hunting on the cold days!!! Heavy but really not bad once you get used to them. I have a pair of muck style insulated boot for the warmer days on the ice and a pair of Irish setters for the days above 10 in the woods!
JD WinstonInactiveChanhassen, MNPosts: 899January 11, 2015 at 8:36 pm #1495792I would abandon the notion that one boot will serve you well for both ice fishing and hunting. If you drill a lot of holes, you will want a waterproof boot. An insulated rubber actually. But hiking in these boots will make your feet roast. Just got off the ice today and drilled over 40 holes with water completely covering my boots when pulling out the auger. Sat in 8 degree weather all day on a bucket with no shelter and I had warm, dry and toasty tootsies.
I did a lot of research and found a lot of great reviews on a Canadian made boot from Baffin. http://www.baffin.com/product-p/23550000.htm
Also, I like that they are slip on/off. I leave my spikes on the boots all the time and wear a light pair of hikers when driving to and from my destination. I put these on at the landing or when on the ice. No need to install spikes in the cold, no need to tie anything.
Got mine at Amazon. They run small. I normally wear a 12 wide. I needed a 14 in these boots to be perfect. Good luck.
January 11, 2015 at 8:48 pm #1495797La Crosse Ice Kings! I’ve had mine since high school and they still rock. Double up with smartwool and I’m always warm-footed.

January 11, 2015 at 9:40 pm #1495825Bunny Boots are brutally heavy, but I can wear my wifes nylons and be warm in them every time.
Wait, what?
Kevin LeSagePosts: 24January 11, 2015 at 11:45 pm #1495861Muck Arctic Pro’s FTW! My feet can be sweating in these boots and I can sit still for the next couple hours and my feet are warm.

Though a bit bulky my feet have always been warm and dry in my Ice Armor boots – I believe they are rated at 1200 mg and were about $150. I’ve been wearing them at least 5 years now. I just about pulled the trigger on a pair of Muck Artic books but there’s nothing wrong with the boots I have and needed to reassess my wants vs needs.
YoshiPosts: 104January 12, 2015 at 9:20 am #1495943I just wear 600 gram Red Wing boots. But a great ‘overboot’ is key. I’ve been using Neo’s for about 5 seasons and wouldn’t trek or drill holes without them. Completely waterproof and the material keeps the warmth inside my boot.

January 14, 2015 at 10:09 am #1497115I bought some guide series from Sportsmans Guide. 2400 Grams of Thinsulate. Very warm, pretty comfy. They’re tall rubber boot style. No complaints so far!
Kelsey lemirePosts: 1January 14, 2015 at 6:38 pm #1497419Jd has it right, the Baffin Titans are the warmest boot I have ever worn, rated at -100…ice fishing or snow blowing the driveway or cleaning off the pond… Believe me it’s cold in Canada where I live
January 14, 2015 at 6:58 pm #1497427regarding the Baffin Titan, Ii see they have a liner as an accessory, do you need this also or does the boot already have a perfectly fine liner already?
January 15, 2015 at 3:04 pm #1497940Yesterday I picked up a pair of the Baffin Impacts….
A big boot for sure….but they even LOOK warm…besides the way they feel…
Can’t wait to try them outJanuary 15, 2015 at 7:34 pm #1498052I have North Face Heatseekers. About $125 I think, I have been blown away by their awesomeness. Many full-days on the ice in Northern MN and WI over the last 2 years, and my feet are always more than warm, great tread, and stylish for just getting around town.
January 15, 2015 at 7:55 pm #1498062Lacrosse Alpha Burly. 1600 grams and rubber. Sweet for ice fishing and great for deer/turkey hunting. $180.
