Incredible time out recently with my buddy Dejay. He came out to my area to do some fishing on the roaring fork and to also show me a unique catch and cook I’ve never done.
We hit the Roaring Fork and started fishing around 8:45AM…The bite was hot for the entire morning with big cutbows, rainbows, and browns caught. Both of us were using HD Trout crankbaits with myself primarily using the Ghost Cutthroat pattern. Weather was sunny and warm, which balanced well with the chilly water from the fork. Water was pretty tainted from the runoff but still a few feet of visibility.
We kept one cutbow a piece and he made some AMAZING food. Fried trout with a few bones in it but fried hard so you could just chew through the very tiny bones. After being fried, he made a really tasty sauce with sesame oil, soy sauce, shallots, garlic, ginger, coolantro, cilantro, green onion, hot pepper, and various seasonings. Since we made this video, I went out and caught a couple more and made them again on my own (no video of that) and i’ll tell you, i’m cooking my trout up this way EVERY time if they’re good size!!! Hope you enjoy the pictures and if you have time, you should really check out the food…AND if you really have time, go catch some and make them this way, it’s WORTH IT!
