My buddy runs his helix 7 on his wheelers bars when we are in travel and im thinking about doing this to my set up. What do you guys do for power and mounts. I have a garmin 73cv I might want to mount for a contour map. Instead of my dumb phone navionics.
Any one else do something like this.

Ram mounts and either wire to separate battery or directly to vehicle itself.

My foreman has a power outlet next to the headlight, I mount mine on the handlebar and plug into that.

How well do those portable 12V outlets and adapters work? I’ve heard some say they can lose connection while bouncing around and it’s better to wire straight to the battery.

If they work well it sure would be handy just to plug in and unplug it when done, especially on a Garmim with their handy bail mount.

That is my thought exactly. I will report back once I know. I’ll try it trailriding some time this weekend. If not ill wire quick connects from battery to poke out by the handle bars.

I’ve been running a Hbird on the wheeler for 3 or 4 years and using the 12v plug by the handlebars. I don’t think I’ve ever lose connection when driving it. Only downside is the power is cut when you turn the key off. So if you want to keep the unit powered with the wheeler turned off, you have to press the on/off slider button to shut the wheeler off rather than the key.

I use the same power cord that I do in the boat (not a winter boat fisherman) and since I already had female spade connections on it for connecting to a the fuse block, I put some male spade ends on the 12v plug wires. Works well.

Yep getting a second bail mount would be the cats meow.

One on the machine and one for fishing.

It’s sooooo easy moving the graph with one. Literally a half second….no unplugging wires, loosening knobs, etc.

For those unfamiliar with it, here’s a quick video. It’s kind of like a detachable faceplate on a car stereo, but it’s the whole unit not just the screen.

I have the second mount already. Thats much plan. It will be slick. Can’t wait for ice

That Bail mount is slick. I picked up a 73cv plus ice package this summer for ice use. Even though I have Birds on the boat the touch screen and especially bail mount sold me on the Garmin for ice. It will make going from sled or atv to fishing so simple not having to connect and dosconnect wires. Really neat system.

I’ll be curious to see how you like the 12 volt adapter. I have one on my atv. I have to check if my snowmobile has one.

I think you will be fine with a 12-volt auxiliary plug but if you do have issues I would recommend using one of these. I use them all over in my boat Fish House pretty much anywhere I need 12 volts.
