I would have saved him too! As a nice tanned hide for my cabin wall.
What a bunch of retreads. I have to wonder if any of those do-gooding “animal lovers” realize that once Mr. Coyote is up and off his crutches, he will be in their yards snacking on Fi Fi the poodle and Fluffy the cat. An animal that broken up will never again be able to hunt wild animals, so he’ll become a connoisseur of fine dog meat in a strip suburb near them.
Suzuki, I can just see someone coming to you and saying, “Mister, will you help us get this coyote out of a truck grill?”
“No problem.” (Sound of 10 MM round being chambered in a Glock). Bang!
“There. It’ll be easier now.”

All they are doing is keeping him until he heals on his own. The legs were just fractured.
I heard this story before….or a similar one, but never read this until now. First thing I noticed is the different coloration in the pelts between the two pics. One looks worthless amber and one is $$$ nice. Oh well, Streak is sighted in, has plenty of ammo and I have serious plans in IL this winter!

Relax dude…It’s whats called a “feel good story”. It’s one coyote people. One…Coyote…
I think Randy and I are both all about feel good coyote stories.
In thinking back to last winter, I just feel good every time I think about the ones I whacked with a shotgun. Like that one I had “whoop” at just to get him to move far enough away from the call so I could hammer his ass.
Man, I feel good every time I think about that one!
Grouse
Relax…again, its 1 coyote. Make yourself a cup of coffee, clean your guns for coyote hunting. It’s all good…we don’t need a guy like you blasting the 1/2 dead coyote that is in some guys grill. Find a field and hammer away Dick. It’s…one…coyote…
Such brovado and chest thumping. I respect most hunters, the one who are conservationists and know we have to live with all of nature, not the ones who want to anialate certain species.
Randy, where do you look to blast coyotes in IL? I’m from just south of the WI border in the NW part of state,(the good side aka. Away from Chicago).

As a hunter i applaude you. You just nailed what makes me sick about guys like Grouse. Hunting them is fine (shot 1 myself once…) but the desire to want to kill them all sickens me…
Evidently. Rooster, you don”t have livestock.
Those monkeybutts (along with the wolves) cost my
customers $25,000 so far this year. And they ain’t
even hungry yet. I’m with Pug and Grouse.

relax…im referring to the “man” that says he would walk up to it with a glock and kill it for his hatred of the animal and not to put it out of his misery. This is the same guy that wants bear killed because they are taking “his” deer. [Edit by BK]
Um wkw, I think you meant Randy.
There is no evidence this coyote ever took a calf or patches of the back porch.
Like RR said. Its one coyote.
Evidently. Rooster, you don”t have livestock.
Evidently, you’d be right. That’s not the only thing he doesn’t have.
A bunch of pathetic tosh and juvenile name-calling to boot. Fail.

@Nicholas Barker We call to the brushy draws or thickets and fence lines. see pic as an example.
We will always have a difference of opinions within our own group of sportsmen. No different in our selection of where to live, vehicle to drive, food or beverage of choice, and God forbid, what football team to support. I know when it comes to prairie dogs and coyotes, I often project a perception of kill’m all and treat them like cockroaches. Well, if you have experienced most of what I have, you would probably feel similar. If you have not trapped “domestic” coyotes out of city parks, seen farmers’ dogs that contracted mange, looked in the eyes of a city woman that had her dog ripped apart in front of her, did countless ADC jobs that involved coyotes entering a barn, had coyotes stalking you…..well you get the idea…. you definitely would have a different point of view.
We do need to have a balance. Man continues to expand urban into the once rural areas. Habitat is reduced or greatly altered. Some animals adapt and survive, some thrive on it, and others won’t make it. I personally think that if they dropped the nukes and the world was on the brink of being extinct of life forms, you would still find fresh coyote tracks. I’ve come mighty close to breaking the hundred mark between trapping and calling. Yet, they just keep coming back in. Ya, it may be a few weeks that I don’t see or hear any….but they expand their territory and move back in. Next to a beaver, they have to be one of the smartest animals I have ever pursued.
Now, for those that select to dwell within a city, and not be interfered with by the inconveniences of “wildlife” trying to inhabit there home or property….who had been there first? Every home built has had an impact on habitat. Yet, coyotes are amazingly common within most city limits. Problem is most people that see them think they are someone’s dog. Get a phone call from a frantic mother that saw a coyote in her back yard while her 4 year old son was playing out there. She thinks there is only one yote around. Reality is there is most likely 4 to 7 around that area.
So yes, I have a slanted view on this coyote being relocated. It is one coyote. One coyote that has been removed from its pack, and relocated to defend itself against another pack that most likely won’t accept it. Coyotes are not merciful animals. When you skin them out, you commonly find bite marks/scares in their throats. Running a trapline, I find plenty of dead fox and small male coyotes that had their throats ripped, more like shredded apart. Terminating this animal in a quick humane way would have been in my opinion a better solution than relocating a problem. BTW – If its a “feel good story”, what good was done? I feel sad for the poor critter
Killing predators has and will always be a highly debated subject. Especially the canine variety as so many relate these viscous animals to their buddy fido. The reality is, it is just one coyote that should have been put down humanely in my opinion. Mother nature is not kind to the handicapped.
Besides, everyone knows you wouldn’t use a 10mm when it’s in the grill. Then you’d have to fix the radiator too.
Name calling? Im going to give my opinion when I see someone that talks of inialation of a species. Hunt them! No problem with that. When they attack your dog shoot them! When they get in your fence to attack your animals shoot them but do not act like they should be taken off the face of the earth. Come on Grouse defend your comment about taking out the animal in the original story with your glock! Really!? Your comment is what gives good hunters like me a bad name IMO. Good luck partner…
I don’t see any comments about annihilation of a species. I do see some clever attempts at a play on words that could easily be construed as name calling though.
I was looking more on like what part of the state do you usually get to hunt, but ya I would agree with your brushy draws and etc. Its not uncommon for me to hear a pack howling on a nightly basis, sometimes I swear they are 50yds out but never get eyes on them. I have not had them stalk me, but hearing 3 or 4 start howling within a close proximity of my location in the dark while carrying nothing but a single shot .22, will definitely make you wish you had that 10mm in your hand.
Would be nice if yotes population could be controlled but on the other hand the cat poulation has significantly been reduced in our area and that’s a good thing.:>)

Nicholas, I go where ever I get the opportunity to hunt. I’m not down there often, but I do go all over the place.
I like the tone of this thread better now.
And to the original post, I can’t imagine the injuries were that bad. Sure, its pure speculation, but if they were bad I assume they would have put him down.

you wouldn’t be talking them cute little feral kitties we see running around all the time? They are soo cute and harmless, no cat is bad they couldn’t possibly take a toll on our ground nesting birds and other wildife.
NOT!!!
I cant believe this post went this direction. Its one GD coyote. It’s like taking a wounded wild rabbit to the hospital. Waste of time and resources. You’d think we were on the fishing forum here.
And for the record I dont want coyotes eradicated. Just feral cats.

How much of your time and resources did it take up? Your right. One coyote…why do you care?
I believe the statement “it’s only one GD coyote” works for both sides of this arguement.
