Not pointing fingers at anyone here but some people only have a comfort zone of + or – 2 degrees of whatever they think it should be just for them.

I actually was listening to MPR the other day and heard a lady ranting about this. She said the temperature at which offices are at is sexist and out of date. The temperature reflects the days of only men in suits. This is 2018 we should be better than this!!!
I’m sorry I was laughing out loud to be honest. I thought of you right away Sharon.
I hope you make the magnet!
That is hilarious! I wonder if it was one of my coworkers… LOL!
Sexist, men in suits, out of date… I’d like to smack her. But she is at least approaching a relevant thought. Offices have become much less formal than 20 years ago. Men don’t wear as many suits and women definitely aren’t wearing shoulder pads, thick blazers, and nylons like they used to. So she’s close in the regards that business casual has stepped down a notch, but to blame it just on men is ridiculous.
I actually wore a tshirt and no cardigan the other day at the office. It was weird. I’m used to a more professional look involving layers, but if it’s just too warm in the office then so be it. It was a tshirt with our company logo so it still looks semi-professional I guess.
August 31, 2018 at 8:42 pm #1794820I work outside all year so I can’t do much arguing. Either 104 out or -20 gets real old

I think masks/resperators automatically make everything 20deg hotter.

I tolerate the cold much better than heat. Been through a few cases of heat stroke and now I get deathly sick with too much exposure to that fireball in the sky.
Seems like this year has been nothing but upper 90’s with high humidity or low 100’s without a cloud in the sky. Poor office dwellers squabble over a couple degrees….Attachments:
September 1, 2018 at 8:13 am #1794879You bring up a good point, Randy. And I’m thankful I don’t work outdoors for a living. I’m sure I’d fry to a crisp and then spontaneously combust! But since we have control over our office temperature, I think we should be able to agree on something better than 75+ degrees. I tip my hat to everyone who works outside or in a non-climate controlled office. You guys are superstars!
Bassn DanPosts: 977September 1, 2018 at 8:48 am #1794889A toss up which is worse. Too hot in summer, or too hot in winter when the inside temp is 78+ degrees. You have to dress for the “tropics” to survive indoors, but then go outside overheated and underdressed in sub-zero temps.
September 1, 2018 at 9:57 am #1794896I work at a large medical facilty with thousands of offices, rooms, etc. If I can get away with it, I turn down the stats in every room I get into just to mess with the gals that need it too warm.
One office in particular was told to stop using personal heaters because they would blow the breakers. They kept lying every time the breaker would blow and the maintenance guys were getting tired of it. luckily I don’t work in an office but if I did I would tell the cold people to stop being so soft.September 1, 2018 at 10:36 am #1794900You have to wear all that osha gear too, ha!

Yes I cut concrete for a living I run wire saw and wall saw so it’s always a respirator. When its 100 and humid then put a respirator on and limit your breathing intake and out. It seems like any time it’s beautiful out I’m in some dungeon and when its below freezing or in the 100s I’m cutting the roof off a building and crane picking loads

LOL! Nope. But I like balance, so I think it’s fun to get out of the office, roll up my sleeves and do some manual labor every now and then. It’s good for the body and soul! I didn’t get to the gym on Wed so I shoveled and moved what seemed like 1,000 pounds of decorative rock for my MIL instead. My shirt looked about like yours, Nick, when I was done.
September 26, 2018 at 9:26 am #1799811Crazy office ladies just turned on the heat today. I can feel oven-like air wafting over towards my desk so I turned on my fan. It’s gorgeous out lately… WHY are you so cold??
Grrr.
September 26, 2018 at 9:42 am #1799818With all the gals in sleeveless shirts and yoga pants Sharon, I am wondering if you guys are hiring
September 26, 2018 at 9:50 am #1799826LOL, most of them are reasonably dressed now, so I’m not sure why they are so cold. I’m still wearing light layers and capri pants with sandals so I don’t frickin’ melt. Maybe I have a higher cold tolerance. It’s better at our new office since the owners banned space heaters. Our previous office was a sauna in some offices.
September 26, 2018 at 10:44 am #1799843There are many woman in my office that have blankets at their desks. These same people are always saying they are cold. I have told a few of them to wear more layers and that I might buy them long underwear as a x-mas present. Also, if you are cold every day why aren’t you dressing differently? It often baffles me.
We have no control over the thermostats in our office. It is all controlled by the building.September 26, 2018 at 11:58 am #1799862I might buy them long underwear as a x-mas present.
Hmmm, that’s a good idea!
