Thermal or not, and EVO reviews

In my quest to add a 1 or 2 man shack to the mix on top of the 949i hub, looking for any reviews on the EVO lines. Online gives many opinions but no real world use. Really like the layouts.

Also the thermal question comes into play. To thermal or not to thermal? I fished on some fairly icky days last winter and rarely I even setup the hub, so is thermal for a starter unit really necessary? Other than warmth and noise factor, anything else thermal fabric provides? People fished out of thinner shells for decades now it seems reading that anything other than thermal is crap. Got a big buddy heater that heats up anything real well.

I’ll ever buy non-thermal again. Never hurts to have the protection against the elements plus the resale value will be much better. Just my opinion.

I just added refletix bubble foil insulation to my shack.Home depot for $35 lots cheaper then buying a thermal shack. Got my commando on Craigslist for $125 and it’s practically in new condition.

thermal is the way to go IMO. i liken it to 4×4 on a truck. 90% of the time you can get by without it but that 10% of the time you want 4×4 you REALLY want it! Can you get by without thermal? yes, of course you can. I fished out a Dave Genz fish trap 2 for years. My summer tent has more insulation than that thing. A thermal can save you a lot in fuel usage, has better resale value, and is more comfortable. My buddy fishes out of a frabil non-insulated and its fine. Of course on windy/cold days we have to have the sunflower pointed right at us melting our faces off just to keep warm.
