I passed someone in an AWD Chrysler 300 going 20 in a 40. The road was fine and straight as an arrow there. Its better drivers like that just stay home.

Hate that and this morning just like always when I catch up to a line of vehicles going 25 in a 55 the guy in front is always some asswagon in a 4 wheel drive truck that wont use it.

Yeah this is definitely up there for craziest drive to work I’ve ever had. The amount of snow combined with the high winds made it real bad. I live on a dead end gravel road and drive about 5 miles of gravel before hitting a highway. I was very close to plowing the driveway before I left but decided just to floor it through the drifts. Very low visibility and crazy drifts everywhere.

Glad you guys got some snow down there since it seems you have been missing out all year.

Has to be 8-10 at my place. I got out early to clear the drive.
I had a blast spinning around in my truck this morning.
Right now my non-snow-blower-unfriendly neighbor is struggling with a push shovel so I cant clear the plow drift until he goes away. )

as a retired fella…..i tend not to drive in this type of stuff…….but when i do, i may not be the slowest one but i’m flat out not driving faster then I think the road conditions allow………..call me an azzhat for not driving 55 when road conditions in my mind dont allow it………….

Today isn’t to bad compared to a couple years back when we got that ice storm when people were ice skating on the asphalt. That day I pulled a 15,000 pound trailer from hinckley to Farmington. We pulled in the jobsite and the job sup told us to go home.

Don’t hog the fast lane and you’ll be golden. I totally get being uncomfortable, but hogging lanes is what gets me worked up.

In other words Glenn, you’re at the end of the earth.

Our local station’s radar shows the main mass of the storm well east of us now with a couple quickie type cells to pass. Patches of blue sky in a couple places letting the sun peek thru. There’s still some very fine snow in the air but I think its being picked up by the wind….its another howler out there.

And when it snows there is only 1. You just drive down the middle until someone comes your way.

Wind is an issue out here. It’s far from “smowmagedon” though. Travel is doable if you take your time. Pretty difficult to measure the snow but I doubt we got what was predicted. It seems to have stayed NW a bit. My wife was in Red Wing and said there was significantly more snow.

My 2 year old went out to collect eggs this morning with my 5 year old and with the wind at her back she reached speeds she didn’t know were possible.

There were no lanes on 212 this morning, and only 2 cars in the ditch which isn’t too bad. There’s often 2 in the ditch when it rains. rotflol

I sure could use some power! From what I could tell power went out once overnight, then again around 5 right before I got up. Had to prob my garage door up on a ladder and bucket to get it to stay open while I drove out. Wife says the updates are it could be restored this afternoon.

Hoping the wind subsides just a bit so I can plow when I get home, I’m sure a lot of it will just drift back over but it should be better than what it is now.

With the snow came the sleds.
Sled v. SUV right in front of my place last night.
Pretty sure the Gal riding got away with only a broken leg.

    Not quite sure.
Across the road is a hill not a ditch. I’m thinking it was too steep and she slipped onto the road. Driver prolly saw it coming and slowed down enough to not kill her.

How does that saying go about March?
In like a lamb out like a lion?

Our forecasted highs for Monday at in the low 70’s for Granite Falls.
Seeing lots of wind and showers at the end of the week with next weekend only getting to around 32 for a high.

this was only a 40-60% chance a couple days ago, now it’s looking more like 0% and some real warm weather followed up with a couple cooler days in the 30’s- low 40’s next weekend, maybe a little light rain late week…
I’m good with that as i’m three months well overdue ready for spring.
