No Juncos here so far today or all of yesterday. They’ve been very consistent here all winter.

I had juncos yesterday, but I dont think I have seen any today. I heard goldfinches yesterday. There are some finches that never leave, but those do.

Gold Finches have been here all winter. Those tiny birds can sure pack in the thistle seed. I’m almost out of a 20 pound bag I got the first of November and fill only one feeder with it.

INteresting Jimmy! Maybe they have been here before and I just never saw or heard them. This is the first time I have ever heard them in the winter.

Man, we really flipped a switch from a week ago. It was near -40 wind chill and didn’t make above zero air temps.

It’s breaching the 50 degree mark in many locales today.

I’m so ready for this. I’m over the winter.

I’d like 1 more trip to the cabin chasing crappies and sunfish through the ice yet hopefully mid march.

I am attending a wild game feed this Saturday or I’d be there now

The melt has gradually turned into one of my favorite times of year. Just love watching the snow melt away and seeing my yard again. And finally gaining daylight too waytogo

    All our snow is gone.
We had rain and even some lightning today in Granite Falls.

I heard a rumor of a tornado by Webster SD but have not been able to confirm it yet.

Yeah, I am not sure if it touched ground or not, but that is pretty wild. Last week at this time it was -20 and then last night a tornado?!

Fired up the grill last night.

I’m also a guy who hates the dark. I like daylight and it’s even better if the sun is shining.

Last night’s light rain really took the snow down in the neighborhood. Maybe a small hump where someone had to pile it but for the most part we’re that wonderful brown.

Had some fog lingering this morning and its still hanging around but not right on the ground.

I just got the second round of cut muscle jerky in the smoker. Then on to summer sausage. Then the last batch of sticks. There’s a few random chances for light rain again towards the weekend but it won’t bother the smoking at all.

I might have to take a little road trip to see if my early open water places are free of ice. Should be about any time now.

Next week brings back more snow chances (allegedly) per some of the future models. It’s way too early to know if that will come to be or if we will be outside applying sunblock in 70 degree temps.

Right there with ya, loving the longer days though!

If we could just take last week’s -20s and this week’s +40s and meet right in the middle, and then ride that out for another month or so… that would be great

I’m very curious if Silver Creek Reservoir down your way has had a lot of water open up near the shoreline. I know there will be plenty of ice on most of the lake still; I’d like to get my boys there one more time but I’m worried by the time Saturday comes around the ice will have pulled away from the shore too much.

Fun fact. The calendar days match between Feb and Mar. You dont even have to flip your calendars until the 29th of Mar. Carry on.
