Sounds like we are going to lose it again next week.
This weekend is dubbed “bye bye carbides” because there’s no way I will miss the 3rd and potentially last weekend to ride around our place.

Probably take the trees a few days to thaw out.

When people start wielding their pitchforks cause schools are closing because of the cold maybe someone will hit a maple tree and we can watch for the wound to start dripping sap. Then it will be time to tap.

Kids and I put an about 80 miles yesterday and today, pleasantly surprised by how good the trail conditions were in the Crosby area. Could be it though looking at the forecast.

The trails are in great shape where we are at (voyagers national park area) I think they will be good for a few more weekends yet especially if the sun doesn’t come out. One thing that makes a huge difference this time of year or any time of year for that matter is if that small group of people that ride like a$$holes would quit spinning in every corner and constantly on and off the gas digging holes. Once dirt is showing the sun can really do some work now. I’m sure you guys know the group I’m talking about. Generally can be spotted going down the lake or trail, usually on a huge mountain sled with no windshield and obnoxiously loud, standing up with a backpack and a shovel sticking out of it. People watch way too much YouTube. Last time I checked there was maybe a foot of snow here.

Oh yes. A dark surface acts like an absorption area that slowly expands in the late February sun.

It never even got above 0 degrees yesterday, but with the afternoon sun, there was still some melting off my back roof that faces the south. Gaining power…

Almost all of the snow has melted off the black snowmobile covers. Temp still dropping here. Front door into the house is froze shut. Other doors are a PITA to open because they are freezing too. My wife’s remote start doesnt work anymore, not sure why. -23 now and I am sure if I went down the road a bit it would be -25.

Mine will sometimes not work in -20 weather. Lately though on the coldest days its one of my tire sensors. I have to drive a while before all 4 work.

Yeah, the remote start is weird. It is the factory one, but the doors lock and you can hear an audible click sound but it doesnt crank over. She is not happy about it.

We’re at -9 right now, up from -19 at 5:30 this morning. This cold crap can move along any time now and stay gone.

Back in the late 90s we had a cold snap where it was -30F at night with highs of -20F for a few days. No working from home then. It was brutal. It finally broke and warmed up to 0F with no wind. That felt warm.

I think I know the one you are talking about. My car was parked in the airport ramp and dead when I arrived home from a work trip. I was NOT dressed to deal with a dead car. Had it towed to my friends house in Stillwater to heat up in his garage. I remember days below zero. Nothing like that since.

It’s true. Rainbow stickers add warmth. Rams have nothing to fear.

Yes! Next weeks forecast looks excellent for end of February. Hopefully that means the groundhog got it wrong.
