Sorry not picking on any one of you… but some of you are your own victims. Who the F even watches ‘the weather’ or ‘the news’ anymore? If you do, sorry, it’s your own dam fault. It’s a dying industry and you are the last idiots watching.

Sorry if I am off base but I haven’t watch either in years and find my weather sources extremely accurate. So please stop complaining!!!

I have multiple sources. But I’m fascinated by weather and meteorology too. Partly why I started this thread. The weather never stops. wave

I also read the comics in the newspaper and will comment in online forums from time to time. Don’t believe it makes me an idiot or naive’, I tend to see myself as somebody who can weigh the facts as I see them and form my own opinions. For example….I’m not a cerified weatherman like GIM so I wet my finger and stick it out the window to see which way the wind is blowing. I’ll step outside to see if it’s hot or cold. If it’s raining or snowing I’m thinking a front is near. jester

I can’t do anything about the weather except bitch when it shows up. So I don’t pay alot of attention. I do find it interesting the way some react though.

Dutch im sure you buy playboy for the articles too right? LOL in all seriousness I agree with you. I honestly don’t watch the news anymore it seems to find me in all sorts of sources. Weather, I’ve always been a big knock em out kick out butt snowstorm lover though it’s waning with time and don’t get me started on thunderstorms! My wife gets ticked when we are under some warning and I’m on the roof watching. I’m still here but it’s fascinating.

With the lightning flashing, thunder booming and sirens wailing, I’ll be outside or out in the garage looking out. I love tumultuous weather. Hail will chase me into the garage. But like you Cap’n, I find the wild weather fascinating.

Ma and I went to the classes and got certified as storm watchers and played that game for a few years. No near misses but I did spy a funnel several miles away hanging below a cloud that was later proven on the ground.

We had about 3.5 inches of super powder snow before I left for work at 330am, and it was still coming down good.

Holding steady at 0.0” here of snow here. The complete swing and miss should work out well though as I promised a buddy I’d come help set trusses on a garage build today.

It does look like there are some more systems moving through the Midwest next week, but anything before the day of is a complete crapshoot…as everyone was shown with what’s left of this current system

Extreme south Carver County and we have what would be described as a “very…very light dusting”. Was hoping for a little snow but…

My initial guesstimate for us is 6 inches. If it isn’t it’s dang close. A little cross eyed this morning but it was well over the top of my shoes when I went out to get my Pepsi from the garage.

I have one of those NWS certified rain gauges that I leave out all winter. Its 12 inches if its full to the top. Before this snow it was about half full. Now its over the top. It sure is perty!
My son rode the bearcat to work at upper deck last night. When he came home after 10 it was really coming down. Still snowing lightly now, but appears about over, but I havent checked radar yet.

I think your close Musky on snow totals, I measured 6.5” on deck in Sauk Rapids.

Started sleds up for first time Wednesday night. Both started fine but one needed a new voltage regulator. $390 later it’s back in action. I think a rip is in order today!

Ive always wanted to do that, but since I work and have to go into the office I dont think it would go over real well. I dont have a full weather station that measures humidity, wind barometric pressure or anything just this manual rain gauge but it is dang accurate.
    It looks like this:
    https://www.scientificsales.com/6330-Stratus-Rain-Gauge-p/6330.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIh_yCs6i0iwMVTCrUAR3QWQWsEAQYAiABEgIBd_D_BwE&utm_source=google&gad_source=1&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GSNFree

I take the top off and the micro gauge out for the winter.

1.5” here out west of the metro and looks like we could pick up another inch or so. Hate to say it but yeah I’m a little like Gim and am fascinated by the weather. I don’t watch TV weather other than the day of the storm. I follow a weather guy on FB and check model forecasts and enjoy that. Sometimes they’re right and sometimes they’re wrong. I’m the type that when they forecast snow I hope the bullseye is right over us. I think it may stem from my days as a snowmobiler praying for the next big one.

I have that same gauge CM. I need to leave it out to measure snow instead of the top railing of the deck cool

Yeah it was a little trial and error with mounting it. At first I mounted it flush with the top railing but then I was getting rain dripping in there from the railing so I adjusted it up several inches.

Channel 5 meteorologist talked about a dry air area south of the cities. The snow wouldn’t start there until later. Well he was right. Didn’t start snowing in Minnetonka until 6:00 am. It snowed about 3/4″, then I blew it off the deck with my leaf blower. It’s all of 2 inches in a little over 2 hours. Airport warning because of the high snowfall rate.

I’ve probably got a good 5 inches here. For a while it was big fluffy snow too. Should be tapering off anytime now according to the radar.

Captain Musky probably not to far from you last night we were out at the Saint Wendel bar. Here in Avon we got probably 5-6 inches of snow when I took off for work. Real fluffy and light snow.
