52 degrees forecasted here near Pool 4 for Thursday.

If something doesn’t drastically change…our local snowmobile clubs will be at 4 of the last 6 years having never opened their trails whatsoever.

    That is really sad!

There are a lot of resources and planning that go into maintaining sled trails. If this keeps happening that all goes away. Not to mention the rising cost of sleds. Might be a dying or niche sport.

Looks like there should be some snow up north this weekend. Said 2″ yesterday and keeps going up.

I’m up north right now. There saying 1-3 inches here. Close to bowstring lake. There’s very little snow on the lake and what is is hard as a rock

Records may fall today in some locations. The high in Rochester is expected to be 52 degrees, Mankato 54, Twin Cities 45.

There is clipper system moving through mostly in the northern third of the state on Sat/Sun and some isolated areas might get a few inches of snow.

I just heard some very confused Bluebirds outside. Several of them. What in the world.

Agreed. I love snowmobiling, but it’s the easiest hobby to give up with 4 of our last 6 Winters not being even close to ever opening the trails. I sold the pair my wife and I used to ride and have absolutely 0 intentions of going back down that rabbit hole. I can always rent one out West or Up North once or twice each Winter to scratch the itch if needed.

It’s crazy that my 4 and 2 year old had one week this entire Winter where they could ride in their sleds in the backyard or make a snowman….in Minnesota! And the previous Winter was no different

This weather has already made for some sloppy accesses. It was messy and rutted coming off yesterday night. I can’t imagine it’s going to be looking to good by Sunday with temps above freezing through the weekend. A lot of guys will be taking some unique angles to go on and off. It’s amazing what the sun can do to the ice with upper twenty to low thirty temps as the days get longer.

First week of Feb. is shaping up to be at least a little active. Fingers crossed for some plowable snow!

Planned on getting out ice fishing with a friend for both of our second time only this year last Saturday and this Saturday, but cancelled both because of low-30s and 40mph wind, respectively.

    Go figure. Hopefully go tomorrow.

Saw a whole flock of males in an open area near Hastings during the Audubon bird count in early-mid January. Couldn’t believe it. And it was pretty cold!

Another system could drop some snow tonight across the central part of the state into Wisconsin. A narrow band from Fergus Falls to Alexandria eastward to St Cloud could result in up to 6 inches of snow. Twin Cities is on the southern edge of this and could get an inch or two, or just a dusting.

There is potential for measurable snow next Fri/Sat too. That one is still uncertain given that it’s 5 days away.

i drove home today from the cabin……what a major difference 90 miles makes.

up in itasca cty, there were more township and cty roads plowed at 7;30 am then state roads. hwy 6 from Talmoon hadnt seen a plow till remer… and even south of there the roads had alot to be desired. by crosby they got better…..and south of brainerd it was back clear sailing!!

Wednesday of this week looks interesting as well.

Wednesday/Saturday look like the last 2 chances of measurable snow for parts of the area for some time as the storm track slides back South again next week.

    I got an inch.

Wed is looking to take a similar path as last night/this morning. Mostly in the northern 2/3 of the state. That’s the projection I saw this morning anyways.
