We might have 5 or 6″ with light snow still coming down.

Yeah I’m sure we got toward the higher end of the 2 to 4 forecast for here. Dang snowblower tire keeps going flat so I didn’t get paths blown for the little dog. Oh well. Need to bring it in and get a tube out in. Thing is only 2 years old. I had to put a ratchet strap around it last time because it was completely off the bead to get it to take air.

I only got about an inch here. It definitely was further north than expected.

Gonna get cold for a few days, then warm up, then get cold again.

Correct. A “real” winter in terms of temps. Not a fake one like last year.

Still way behind on average snowfall though.

I really need to get heat and floor drains in my garage. The snow drips off our vehicles and freezes under the garage doors when we get snow and then cold temps. A real PITA on a daily basis. Honestly I was liking the weather we had before…

I use a floor squeegee to push the snow melt out of the garage. I also got some small water booms made by PIG off of Amazon to prevent the snow melt from going under the boat which is the low spot in my garage.

Tis’ the season to be thankful for floor drains and ceiling fans in the garage. My only regret is not putting in a third ceiling fan.

I have been seeing what the next week or 2 is going to bring and it sounds cold. We might even see -20 for a low and highs below zero. This is from the National Weather service.

James assessment seems accurate from what I have seen too. A warm up for a few days followed by another blast of cold air next week.

I usually have to run my best shovel (smooth bottom) and clear out all the snow and ice after we back out the vehicle(s). PITA.

    1. drinking beer
    2. cleaning fish
    3. cleaning deer
    4. watching sports
    5. grilling/deep frying
    6. making sausage
    7. peace and quiet (rarely happens anymore)
    8. smoking meat
    9. drinking beer

I’ve gotten leery about parking salty vehicles in heated garages.

My wife’s last vehicle was a well taken care of 2014 Grand Caravan. It spent it’s entire life in a 50° garage. I washed it a thousand times, but there was plenty of nights where it was parked inside dirty.

By the time I sold it, it had more rust than a lot of the other ones the same age. Salt and warmth accelerate corrosion.

With her new car we leave it outside all winter (the only exception is if there’s going to be a significant snow event)

Pretty much the entire country will be engulfed by colder temps next week.

We don’t have any floor drains in our attached garage but we did buy a garage floor mat off of Amazon last winter that works pretty well. All the snow melts onto the mat (it has side walls that are maybe an inch tall) and it came with a squeegee to push all the water off out the garage door. It’s called the auto floor guard.

The metro areas have far more kids who walk or bike to school, or wait for busses in community/neighborhood designated spots versus rural schools where tons of kids are dropped off at the door by parents, or have a bus that pulls into their driveway.

There are tons of rural schools closed too. In today’s litigious “it’s not our fault” society, schools have no choice but to play it safe.

No kids, city or rural should be out in -20 degree temps. Especially when looking cool trumps dressing warm.

Not sure Glenn I saw a mix of schools. I can definitely see the late start as my son’s bus comes at 6:30am. It’s still friggin dark out and tomorrow morning temp is supposed to be -20 actual with -36 windchill.

Kinda gnarly when you have a long driveway and the bus is running late!!

Many schools still do remote/e-learning even when in person class is cancelled. All the districts around me do anyways.

Supposed to be 20 something degrees by Wednesday. That will feel tropical. cool
