I got about 3/4 of an inch of rain. Snow is pretty much gone except for bigger piles.

Seeing some videos of water going down holes that is really going to make a mess of the ice and be very dangerous.

Like Gim, our snow is pretty much history. The digital rain gauge showed almost an inch of rain from yesterday/early today.

Man is it ever foggy down here, I was talking to a local roofer and he said he nailed on six rows of shingles before he realized he was past the peak.

The clouds are a saving grace for now down here. I don’t love 18” of ice and people everywhere when I’m ice fishing, but I also don’t like melted shorelines the last week of December either. It looks like the end of next week will have us back closer to normal and ice forming again as it should be for this time of year

We just left one backwater spot that had 8” of decent ice but the shorelines were soft and guys with a wheeler got stuck in about a foot of mud and water trying to get on the ice at the launch. The jumbo perch were snapping nicely though

.7 inches of rain at my place. Snow went from 5 down to 2 inches of slush on shore. Lake is snow free with lots of water on top. Ice is holding strong past the first half inch.

Crappies and big pike were active at the morning bite lake. Watched a pike eat a crappie that was chasing my jig on the livescope. On to lake #2 after lunch.

The entire landscape has turned into a big ol’ soggy mud pit. Not a big fan of this late December warmth and rain.

Emptied 1.1” out of the rain gauge here after we got home from fishing.

Against my better judgment I said “F it” this afternoon and let my 4 year old daughter pull out her dirtbike once the sun was shining. There’s no snow in sight, but that poor bathtub was proof that the mud is plentiful. If Winter isn’t going to be what it used to be around here we will make the most of the warmth

Look on bright side, drought is long gone. Walleye will spawn good this spring.

Earlier part of December got down to just above 0 a few nights and a few got out especially in the Northern part of the state. Then it started getting warmer until even at night it was above freezing and now fog some lasting all day. I’m pretty sure by mid January I’ll make it out.

All I know, is my yard is a mess. Backing trailers in and out has my side yard sloppy. I needed 4 wheel drive to get my snowmobile trailer out this morning. I have ruts all over the side yard.

It is a mess out there. Fog is crazy fog the past few days. Temps dropping to around 29F this morning and the roads, parking lots, and driveways are a bit slippery. Be careful out there.

When I got to the edge of the fog south of Eveleth somewhere it was really neat. You could clearly see it rising fast and rolling and all the wisps in it. The next couple hundred miles were garbage though, people really need to turn their lights on. Especially if they want to go 55 on 35 smash

Was sitting in the flip over as the sun set tonight. Stepped out as I got ready to go and was really glad I had a GPS to help me get off the ice.

Another day of fog and warmth. Then the temps are going to dip colder. NWS is watching a potential winter storm Sat/Sun. Right now it will mostly stay south of MN but the track could shift northward.

Next week looks pretty cold. Single digits during the day and below zero at night.

Drove home from LOW yesterday and had fog ~80% of the way. Thickest from Hill City to Garrison. One guy passed me and when he became the lead vehicle, he slowed down to the speed I was going. whistling

Yeah our road looks to be off to a terrible start too. There was one set of tire tracks through about 4″ that was frozen solid Sunday morning and forecast doesn’t look like it’s melting anytime soon.

All the fog was freezing this morning. I was backing out of my driveway riding the breaks and slid all the way into the street. Luckily no one was coming.
