Im seeing 36 for a couple days next week around here and at my cabin.
Maybe the snow cover from Thu will change all that a few degrees?December 17, 2024 at 9:11 am #2305377I envy those of you who will get to keep some of the snow. For here, it will just be a muddy Christmas.

Just saw novak weather said potential “Big Snow Maker” for Thursday LOL.He’s awesome for weather information and explains things real well. You just have to keep in-mind that his revenue is based on viewers and sponsorships.
I usually look at his snowfall predictions and tone them down a notch. As for the “where” and “when” he’s pretty spot on…just pushes the extremes a bit with his graphics and predictions to generate views.
He’s great but you are correct on the fact he does have to hype things once in a while. I think he is the one I saw describe Thursday’s event as a “modified clipper” or something along those lines. Our weather for so long has been pretty boring. It’s no wonder they have to hype a 2″ snow system. Pretty good chance for a white Christmas anyway.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23315December 18, 2024 at 1:51 pm #2305697Well we are under a winter storm warning now. 5 to 7 inches never used to be issued for that but maybe its going to be windy.
December 18, 2024 at 1:54 pm #2305702Im in the current “dump zone” but my cabin is not.
At least I get to run the ole blower.CaptainMuskyPosts: 23315December 18, 2024 at 2:06 pm #2305706Im in the current “dump zone” but my cabin is not.
At least I get to run the ole blower.Quick fill it with gas! Never fails for me if I fill it with gas the storm is a dud.
December 18, 2024 at 2:10 pm #2305708i’m anxious to put a hurtin on the snow with my new Toro…a White Christmas is always fun, but I heard a big warmup is coming afterwards that will melt everything…

The St Cloud area looks like the most likely bullseye from what I’ve seen and heard today. 5-7 inches sounds reasonable.
Twin Cities looks slightly less, maybe 4-6.
There appears to be a sharp cutoff line to the south too which is just south of the Twin Cities, which could change.
December 18, 2024 at 3:09 pm #2305722I’m guessing the clipper trends a bit North and dry air gets worked in. I’ll guess Rochester gets 1-2″, with the Twin Cities getting 4″ and the Mississipi River area getting maybe 4″ as well.
One thing is for certain…whether it’s 1″ or 6″ of snowfall, people will be piling into the ditches across the area despite this not being much of a snowstorm.

It is crazy how life-altering and newsworthy 4-5″ of snow has become.

I’m about to head back in town from Eau Claire and hope the people around me can keep it under control and keep a decent speed. Looks like I’m driving right into it, not worried about myself as I’m driving an awd with good tires, it’s the others driving around on worn crappy tires not paying attention.

what amount of snow do you deem worthy of mentioning in the 30 min news program that is roughly 1/3 dedicated to weather?
December 18, 2024 at 3:50 pm #2305737I’m doing big hours at the Rochester water treatment plant right now. Just started a 13 month long job there I’m overseeing at the moment. Snows going to make the commute horrible.

I’d prefer the ratios be adjusted all together
Only committing 2/3 of the 30 minute segment to violent crimes is not enough.
December 18, 2024 at 6:11 pm #2305766I just bought gas for the snow blower. That should take about 2 to 3 inches off the overall snowfall.
December 18, 2024 at 6:19 pm #2305768I ran my snow blower yesterday for a while just to make sure. Had to kick the tires before it grudgingly started up with a low growl.

[/quote]Yeah company would buy me a room but I get OT to drive home and I’m a home kind of a guy. If I’m within 2.5 hours I’ll commute. I’m driving a brand new duramax back and forth and leaving my kenworth on site. So the drive is nice.
